Hoboken St. Patty’s Parade HQ!

3/6/2010:

As I predicted – a bit of a late start. But that’s OK – today will be a very long day!

Hoboken St. Patrick’s Parade Headquarters

Here’s the section to cover all your Hoboken St. Patty’s Day action on Saturday, March 6th!

So what do we have in store?

Live Action

  • Live Chat all day. While I’ll be in and out, this chat box will be open from the time I awake – and till we all pass out. I’ll post incident reports – as well as integrate this with the Hoboken411 Twitter feed to update this live chat from remote locations if necessary.

You can also follow this live chat via RSS feed as well.

  • Just the Twitter Feed. If you want to follow some of the other incidents – they’ll be posted on the Hoboken411 Twitter feed by themselves, but may not include all goings on that are taking place in the live chat.

  • Live Police Scanner Action. Hoboken411 has a limited number of channels open for residents to listen in on all the Hoboken Police and Fire Action today. Get in early on Saturday to ensure you have a spot.

NOTE TO “LONG TIME LISTENERS”: (You know who you are) If you’re having trouble getting the stream – please email with your IP address (use www.whatismyipaddress.com) – and I’ll “reserve” a black label spot for you.

There may be online traffic log-jams tomorrow – so periodic outages are a possibility. Just have patience and I’ll clear it all up.

Send in your most excellent St. Patty’s Photos!

Having a super great time? Hating the whole situation? Got some idiots on film? Any hotties?

Send them in to Hoboken411@gmail.com – and your photos will be included in one of the Photo Galleries below. I’ll try to group them into hours of the day.

a giant FUCK YOU to the drunken savage who stole my coat from the coat rack at maxwells on saturday night. i saw a show in the back room, came out and my coat was still there. 2 beers later and it was gone. Now, i understand a drunk mixing up coats – it is a normal peacoat that looks like a lot of other coats. but when you wake up the next day and realize it isn’t yours, why not return it to the bar? FUCK YOU

Apparently the HPD and the City of Hoboken arose to the occasion, but is it worth all of this? The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a proud tradition in Hoboken, it has been desecrated (sp) to a debacle. Please, if any of the City Officials read this site, either change the day or cancel it. As I posted above, I chose to stay at home, so it truly didn’t affect me, I tended to household chores, others chose to leave the city. The quality of life issue still looms during this parade, the cops, fireman, municipal workers have certainly earned our respect and the O.T. that will be paid to them, but in a municipality that hasn’t adopted a budget yet, where did the funding for this come from? What a mess!

Wow and to think I thought this parade was much tamer than last year. Was pleasantly surprised that downtown had zero solo cups or green trash littering the street unlike last year.

Two hundred and forty-eight people were admitted to the emergency room of the Hoboken University Medical Center within a 36-hour period on the weekend of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hoboken, the hospital reported today. The number of patients, recorded from Saturday at 6 a.m. to Sunday at 6 p.m., jumped 31 percent from last year, in which only 189 people went to the hospital, according to Joan Quigley, HUMC spokeswoman.

Good. Some revenue for the hospital from people that actually will have to pay their bills.
