I’m gonna go way out on a limb here and guess that singlebutunderstand is a girl
Seriously, babies don’t really bother me. It’s the terrible twos that are allowed to “explore” my personal space when I’m out in public because their parents are either too self absorbed to mind their kids or they think that’s an entitlement.

This place is fantastic. It is one of my little slices of Paris in Hoboken (the other being Rue de Jardin). Neamet and I have gotten to know each other because we are both in the business and he is a true gentleman and a good cook. Almost all the food is prepared on premises and what is not comes from excellent sources (Artisinal, Balthazaar, etc.).
In reference to the tangential thread, as the father of a seven-month-old, I can appreciate the sentiments of some of the singles on the board, but I think the majority of these mothers are just harried and not rude. There are definitely a sizeable segment of self-absorbed parents out there, but I believe that there are an equal number of self-absorbed singles. As a dad who cares for his son in the mornings before he heads off to work, I can sympathize with the need for a good cup of coffee, which is why everyone should go to The Little Grocery to begin with.

I have been in The Little Grocery many times already and have never been disappointed. I usually get his lunch and dinners and have yet to try his egg sandwiches, but need to real soon. I have to say his Thanksgiving meal was absolutely delicious, the best I have had in a long time. His coffe is real good too. He is a very nice and talented chef. There needs to be more places like his in Hoboken.

“Ceiling fan. Yes it is. That is a ceiling fan. Yes it is.Ceiling fan. Ceiling fan.”
That’s what I heard for a ten minutes yesterday morning at breakfast. It wouldn’t have been so bad except the kid she was saying it to was a one month old. Someday we will see that kid cure cancer or on trial for killing all his coworkers at the ceiling fan factory.

Nothing is better than a bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant from the Little Grocery on a Sunday morning.
As to the other debate, life in the real world is different than life in the frat house. In a town like Hoboken you are going to have an abundance of young mothers. This town has a young population, where young people meet, young people date, young people get married, and young people have kids. Not everyone flees to suburbia as soon as they get married. Give these mothers a break because in a couple of years that could be your wife and child.
For the record I am a 31 year old unmarried male.

This place is great. I’ve lived down the block from The Little Grocery for 3 years and stop in usually 2-3 times a week even if it’s just for coffee. Neemit is a very friendly and funny guy.
The lunch sandwiches and dinner are really good and the breakfast food and coffee is amazing.
You have to appreciate the level of detail that goes into everything served at the Little Grocery. The eggs are whipped before they’re booked, the cream cheese is homemade, the iced coffee is made from Kubrick’s espresso beans, the ham has hints of syrup on it…

You could NOT be more right! A little overpriced for the sandwich but WELL worth it! I stop here at least once every weekend after a workout, sometimes twice. What do they do to those eggs? I want to know!!!

My husband and I finally tried this place out, based on some positive reviews, but we made a mistake. We live nearby, but never had an inkling to step in since there is no real street appeal. Had some dinner recently, and felt it was very over priced for the level of mediocrity. They do nothing to ensure the roving hoodlums from the projects don’t harass customers. One large group of thugs tried stealing my handbag and were yelling racial slurs and spitting at us. Not a very good place to eat outside, that’s for sure. Never going back there again. Would rather order out from Park & Sixth. MUCH better food in the comfort of your own home.

i agree, i think the food is above average for an exclusively take-out type place but i can’t fathom how they can charge basically $20 for a dinner given that level of quality, as well as the variety/portion size.
