Brunch on St. Patty’s Day?

3/3/2010:

Hoboken411 reader Colleen is looking for Brunch advice for Saturday, March 6th in Hoboken. The same time as our Annual St. Patrick’s Parade!

Are all bar/restaurants a no-go?

“Do you know of any restaurants that will still be serving brunch/breakfast on Saturday? My friends and I are trying to figure out where we can eat before heading out to the festivities so we don’t go out on an empty stomach. I assume that brunch will not be an option at places that are also a bar, but what about Stacks, Hoboken Gourmet Company, etc? Or should we just plan on going to the grocery store and making something ourselves?”

If you are down by 2nd & Hudson we will be open 8 AM to 6 PM to accomodate the hungry parade followers(we have a few tables to sit at but do not serve brunch).

Stop in (or call ahead 201-217-0203) for a taylor ham, egg & cheese sandwich to start the day off or a ham, salami & mutz hero…we will also be serving hot prepared foods throughout the day.

Always quality at Fran’s. Also, the zucchini bread is fabulous.

We used to pre-order green bagels from Bagels on the Hudson and have them delivered either the night before or morning of the parade. Since its right on Washington, probably not ideal to go and pick them up, but might be worth a shot. Also could get some breakfast wraps, sandwiches, etc. delivered from Josh & Ive’s (formerly Bagel Smashery)….

Mm. Bacon, egg and cheese.

I haven’t had one of those in a long time. In my old neighborhood, there’s a deli that’s been operating pretty much forever that serves the best of these sandwiches I’ve ever had. Ultra cheesy and greasy. And massive– I always had to share it with someone else.

Add a little cup of coffee and… Heaven.

Very uninformative indeed…

Might as well stock up the refrigerator for breakfast (& later) and eat at home. Go out to your favorite bagel store (mine is the bagel shop across from the downtown Starbuck’s) that morning early, get bagels and make your own egg/ bacon/ cheese sandwiches (or waffles!). That way you can linger over the coffee and not be looking at people hopping from foot to foot waiting for your table. You will also then have the refrigerator stocked for later when you have had your fill of wall-to-wall revelers. Belgian waffles in a downtown Beruit motif loose a certain “je ne sais quoi”.
