Mile Square Theatre events this week

2/24/2010:

Are you an aspiring actor? Or find yourself quite able to play characters? Well head on over to the Monroe Theatrespace (720 Monroe St. – 2nd Floor) this Thursday and Saturday for some fun acting-based events!

“Cold Readings & Warm People” Series

Thursday, February 25th at 7pm (weather permitting)

Come out to the Monroe Theatrespace to have some fun with the folks at MST. We will have light snacks and drinks. We will read 4 to 5 ten minute plays and cast them right there on the spot. Yes indeed, if you want to be an actor in one of the pieces or direct one, all you have to do is sign up when you get there (first come first served)!

We’ll read from 8 to 9pm and then hang out again afterward. We will also have sign ups for our General Auditions on Saturday, February 27th.

We hope this will be a fun, laid back way to meet new people, bond with old friends, and enjoy some no-pressure-fun-theatre!

General Auditions

Saturday, February 27th – 2-5pm
These are Equity and Non-Equity open call auditions for Mile Square Theatre’s Summer and Fall 2010 season. Show up and audition—no sign ups or time slots given, UNLESS you attend Thursday’s readings and then you can sign up for a Saturday time slot!

Auditions: We are looking for 2 monologues (Classical, Contemporary, or Both) no longer than 3 minutes total – OR one monologue and 16 bars a cappella (3 minutes total on that as well)

Should do a skit called “The Parade”. 10 minute play about what the St Paddy Day parade will sort of look and feel like. It would be a lot of fun, I’ll play the drunken Irish hooligan, I’ll just lay on stage for 10 minutes unconscious with a big wet spot in the front of my pants.

Let’s see we will need some guys to play “fighters”
2 gals will be needed to play the “flash the boobie” role
We will need a guy to imitate someone taking a “deuce” in some imaginary garden.
We will needed someone to play the roll of police man

What else we need?

We need camera people at our bars, filming what goes on in there (and outside of there as well)– would be fun.
