Ms Zimmer and her majority council memebers as well as Revolt have been pushing for this. Now let’s see what they do in getting us our 25% tax decrease. Are they really going to lay off 40 cops. You got to be kidding me. They can’t blame the Monitor any more. Also, Mr lenz and Mr Cunningham stated we will have abudget by end of March. Now the report has been released are they going to say we can’t have a budget approved?
That means more temporary appropations which Mr. Lenz would come to the mike and complain about thr Roberts admoinistartion continuing to pass them when he was on the other side of the chamber. WE WERE LIED TO. WHERE IS OUR 25% TAX DECREASE????

Hey–any way we can get the report as a pdf? Virtual flipbook is really difficult to use…

All the best.

Giant wildcard in this audit. That SLEO special law enforcement officer section. No costs were estimated for the SLEO based events for the entire year. You cannot expect sponsors of events to fund these officers, unless they also can apply any revenue generated from summonses to offset their costs as well. Would you pay to enlist an officer but give ticket revenue to the city? Why? And they mention “club scene” so that would mean at least 104 days a year (or even 156 days a year counting Thursdays). Upholding the state and local laws is a city function. City taxes pay for those services. If you want to get real granular then think about it this way. If it’s the sole function of the HPD to protect the law on the streets and sidewalks of Hoboken, then there are some other events that should be included in the SLEO section, like: – Hoboken City Council meetings. Why do we need an officer there? Have the pay come out of the city council salaries. – Why are there cops stationed at all the schools at dismissal time? Have the parents pay for that when they enroll their kids. – Do we need a traffic cop downtown when there are perfectly working traffic lights there? Notice that most of the events they mention besides 4th of July, which shouldn’t be a big deal going forward since it normally is on the east river, always involve alcohol. St. Patty’s Parade, Festivals, Bars,… Read more »
