Urban Kitchen

4/3/2009:

Did you know?

A Hoboken411 reader mentioned that:

“Urban Kitchen is cutting back their prices by quite a bit throughout the month of April. All classes cost $35 (and they’re about two hours long– a good deal.) We’re attending the Cinco de Mayo “Salsas and Tapas” session for fun. One of our Chef’s specialties is Mexican!”

See what classes they’re offering here and

Who enjoy’s cooking? Have any of you attended a class at Urban Kitchen?

A great addition to Hoboken. For a fun and a great way to learn how to improve your cooking skills an evening at the Urban Kitchen is the place to be. The classes (Chefs Linda, Ellen and the Guest Chefs) are informative, fun and a good place to meet new people. Come alone or with friends and don’t forget to bring your beverage of choice and you will certainly enjoy good food and good company. Highly recomend for everyone!

timber: click on “Course Descriptions” – it has the schedule and the price for the classes.

I clicked on it and now I can’t stop thinking about paella… *drool*

I went just last week….Lobster Night! It was fabulous!
Chef Linda is great. We cooked and then feasted on lobster bisque, lobster rolls and steamed lobsters. what a great way to spend a Friday night….

I’ve had two classes there so far (Cindo de Mayo and pasta sauces), and I’ve had a blast both times. I can’t wait for my third class!

Anyone know the deal with this place? Are they out of business? A summer schedule has not been posted, they are not replying to emails, and no one is answering the phones.

I have been there a couple times over the past 18 months and love it. I just go when Ellen is there so I can’t speak for any other chef but she is great. How does she make vegetables so good??? She was telling me about her other business last time I saw her, “The Secret Chef”. I have not tried it yet but I am dying to. Anybody have any reviews that???

This place is in my hood. Whenever I walk by and peer in everyone seems to be having a good time drinking wine and I guess cooking.

I love Urban Kitchen. I’ve taken three classes here with some girlfriends and had SO much fun.

I took a pie-making class there. LOVED it– so much fun and made a couple new friends. And Chef Abuelinda rocks (not to mention that she knows what she’s talking about)!

Normally, the classes go for $50+ a pop. I think that $35 is a kind offer.

Stpaddy, trust me– if you have Chef Abuelinda, you will be cooking! She makes sure that everyone becomes involved in creating a dish/pastry.

Okay Men listen up. I have taken four classes at the Urban Kitchen. I think the place holds ten people for each class. At one class I was one of only two men . The other classes there were probably seven women and three guys. Sitting around a big table drinking wine with seven single women you just meet while someone cooks you dinner.

    Enough said.

Has this place gone under? No response to my voicemail or email. Bummer.
