Will Christie’s spending freeze hurt?

Chris Christie freezes NJ Spending

Christie Freezes NJ State Spending!

As you might already know, in a brilliant move by NJ Governor Chris Cristie – he’s freezing spending statewide. I wonder why Hoboken can’t take a cue from our new Governor – and stop with the $200k Superintendents and other menial six-figure patronage jobs at City Hall! I mean other companies are tightening their belts – why can’t we? All these cushy jobs with top-notch benefits, while our city is crumbling apart! Priorities, folks!

When will the over-paid and under-qualified job parade finally come to a halt here in Hoboken?

Poll: How badly will Hoboken taxpayers feel it?

With State spending frozen, Hoboken will:

Don’t think this is a one-time deal either – as Christie said next year will be even worse: “The challenge next year will be even greater. The cuts likely will be even deeper. The reforms will, of necessity, be even more dramatic. But let us not make that problem even worse. Let us begin the process of reform today.”

Other than paying some of the highest taxes in the country, what benefit do I get by living in the great state of NJ? I don’t consider crappy expensive schools a benefit. I don’t consider corrupt politicians a benefit. I don’t consider potholes that never get fixed a benefit. I don’t consider having enough paperpushers and supervisors in a city of 50K to staff a city of 1mm a benefit. Government in Jersey sucks. I live here DESPITE the government, not because of it. If it weren’t for NYC, nobody would live in NNJ. Nobody lives here because of the benefits they get from the governement, at least nobody that works in the private sector and pays taxes. Spin it all you want, I hope Christie chokes off spending for pretty much everything.

any trimming of this gargantuan, corrupt, inept beast of a govt (both local & federal) would be welcome news to me! fire em all, no need to pay bloated salaries to people who consistently fail at their jobs… rewarding failure leads only to demise.

Well Christie is certainly idealistic! He cannot possibly clear up this mess in just one term, it took years to create it. Who will he cut? Corzine’s appointees? Replace them with his supporters? Dream on, people, he will try, hopefully he can at least “trim the fat” but he will never do it in 4 yrs.!
JMHO.

YipYap,

Pinko? Are you 70 years old?

My comments weren’t directed at Christie specifically. They are pretty much universal. The only slight difference between the 2 parties, in this regard, is that the Democrats are willing to go after the wealthy since they are not a traditional constituency of the Democratic Party.

Populism is the scourge of democracy. And right now it threatens our entire political system.

I love you Socialists…lets go after the rich…they don’t pay enough taxes…really?

% Ranked by AGI…% of Federal Personal Income Tax Paid
Top 1%($410,096and up)…pay 40.42%
Top 5%($160,041)…Pay 60.63%
Top 10%($113,018)…Pay 71.22%
Top 25%($66,532)…Pay 86.59%
Top 50%($32,879)…Pay 97.11%
Bottom 50%(<$32,879)…2.89%

25% of the wage earners pay all of the bills…that seem fair to you…unless you are in the army and defend our country or part of the 25% that pay taxes then what are you contributing?…take you "rich" and class warfare and stuff it…
