Well, today’s special at Fiore’s is: Larry Hoff from CW11 / WPIX news.

Larry will be on scene with the news van and satellite dish from 6am – 9am this morning reporting on how Fiore’s makes their delicious cheese. Anyone who watches this will have a 76% increased chance of getting one of their delicious roast beef sandwiches either tomorrow or Saturday.

That’s what I just read in my horoscope, so it must be true.

Read a review from long ago (August 2006! – has it been that long?) after the jump.

August 2006

A friend of ours hadn’t been to Fiore’s ever, so today was the day.

Most people that live in Hoboken know about Fiore’s. Known primarily for their signature Roast Beef, Mozz and Gravy sandwiches. Served only on Thursdays and Saturdays, the line is almost always out the door as people, even from out of town, storm in to get their hands on these morsels of perfection. Sometimes you even have to bring your own bread because they run out, it’s so popular!

But today wasn’t the Roast Beef rendezvous. It was Friday, and they have another fantastic dish. Italian Tuna Salad. Tuna with finely diced onions and peppers soaked with balsamic vinegar. What a treat this is. Has to be one of my favorite subs I’ve eaten in many months. That, plus fresh mozz and roasted peppers, each bite was better than the last. If you have summer hours today, give it a shot and have this for lunch when you get back to town. It’s truly amazing.

Our friend however, chose a basic Mozz, Peppers and Proscuitto on a roll, which she kind of liked. I guess you have to be a fan of proscuitto, because she indicated she didn’t particularly enjoy the fattiness of it, but you should expect that when ordering.

Next time we’ll have to remind her when it’s Roast Beef days, so we can show her what the commotion is all about.

Fiore’s is a staple of Hoboken and deservedly so.

I went in today and asked for 1/2 pound of roast beef and they were out so i went for 1/2 lb of bologna as the RB was cooking. Guy behind counter gave me a consolation prize for not having RB and I received a free piece of Mutz. YYYYYYYUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYY

I still don’t see what the big deal over the roast beef & mozz is, but to each his own.
