Who’s picking up the trash these days?

1/21/2010:

Sure looks awful dumpy!

I’ve received quite a few emails from Hoboken residents who have noticed a trend over the past couple weeks – about how much random trash and rubbish is just sprawled along many sidewalk and street areas in town…

Some thoughts:

 • Doesn’t the city employ people to handle the aesthetics of our living conditions? Where are they?
 • Don’t property owners have any pride these days? Or are they waiting for someone else?
 • Does anyone else care? Or are they just concerned with getting home to American Idol, or some other idiocy on the boob tube?

As I’m walking to work this morning over icy snowy sidewalks, I note several instances of dog sh*t, some of which has been stepped in, one of which was directly in the crossing spot (which was limited because of the snow).

For you dog owners who fail to pick up after your dogs: There is a special place in Hell for you. It consists of you being stuck in a pit of dog sh*t up to your nose if you stand on your tippie toes. You get a break from this, for 15 minutes every eight hours. Break consists of you walking down a landmine filled sidewalk, and yes, inevitably you step in a hot steaming pile, slip and fall. Then it’s back into the pit for the next 8 hour sh*t. I mean shift.

For eternity.

None of those photos have snow in them, so they’re not from the last couple of weeks since we’ve have complete ground cover since December 26th.

And I guess that would be because this is a resurrected story from over a year ago…
None of those photos have snow in them, so they’re not from the last couple of weeks since we’ve have complete ground cover since December 26th.
Hoboken411 is a great forum for ‘news’ type stories but users cant start threads. When I had a garbage related issue I figured I could post it here or in the rant thread. I figured this was the best place for my question about looking for companies that employee the guys on bikes that keep the garbage clean outside multifamiles. Your two posts pushed the thread to a new page burying the question like the snow does to the garbage in town. I bumped my posts to below. Does anyone know any companies that employees the guys on bikes that go around taking peoples garbage from behind the fence putting it curbside? I stopped two guys and asked them what company they worked for and both seemed to work for a realtors management company . I dont need a management company, just looking for someone to keep my trash neater. Can anyone recommend someone without the managment company middle-man? With the piles of snow on the sidewalk the removal of garbage from my cans have gone from bad to worse. I own a three family and have cans at front for my tenants. Problems are *The garbage man skip the cans a lot and then they get too heavy to move. Then it gets to heavy so the garbage men pick the big bags off top with loose garbage never getting emptied. *When the garbage men decide to dump the whole can it ends up down the street more times… Read more »

No. But I chain mine to my fence to keep them from ending up down the street.
Hoboken411 is a great forum for ‘news’ type stories but users cant start threads.
