Hobokenpix: Sad Saab

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 1/19/2010

Took this photo of the Park on Park garage (1415 Park Ave.) the other day – and wondered if this semi-beat up red Saab on the roof deck had any feelings, what would he (or she) be thinking? Just seemed quite lonely up there all by itself.

I like this car. The color and everything about it.

Great photo and I have always liked different cars that stood out from the crowd.

The only bad part about this post is I feel like Michael in The Office episode where he is fighting the urge to say “that’s what she said.” I have a joke that comes to mind but will refrain in the interest of good taste.

No way! Don’t refrain from sharing the joke. Speak your mind!

“It’s bad enough I’ve been up here for 3 weeks without so much as a spin around the block, but now my ankle is cold. Those goddamned kids should have just bought a frisbee.”

GM? GM? What the f**k was I thinking? I had better offers but I thought GM would be reliable and not break my heart. They break up with ME? I can’t ever show my face at so much as a Tijuana Pep Boys. Well, it sure has been a crazy ride, had some good times…VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

That’s so strange. This makes 2 abandoned late 1980’s Saab 900’s I’ve seen left alone in a parking lot. The other one is on Route 10 and Ramada Dr (near COSTO) in East Hanover. The second one’s gray with some damage to the front left side, bumper half on the ground.

When I was a kid, these cars were odd, but cool. The only car to have a lower drag coefficient driving backwards rather than forward.

    So many Saab stories.

  8. xyzpdq says:

Seinfeld drove a Saab on his TV show. GM really did a number on a once great brand. The writing was on the wall when they stuck a Saab badge on a Chevy Trailblazer. I better stop Saabing.

I always wanted a Saab. But even before GM torpedoed Saab, their designs had become a lot less distinctive.
