I like this place, but hated my experience today. Every once in a while I go there for a Russian Bagel (pumpernickel & onion), and it is .90 cents.

I asked if they had cream cheese, and they had Breakstones whipped cream cheese. Not a fan, I wanted Philadelphia Cream Cheese (shocker from me, I know). Anyhow, I didn’t want to buy an oversized tub of their Breakstones and just ask for my cream cheese on the side.

They take the tiny container, weigh it, and charge me $1.50 for the cream cheese.

Seriously?

I tell them to keep the cream cheese, and I will go around the corner to the bodega next to Carlo’s Bakery, buy a small tub of Philadelphia Cream Cheese for $3.50, and keep it in my fridge.

I hate how businesses just nickel and dime people like that.

For the fun of it I checked their menu and saw that they charge 1.60 extra for cream cheese on a bagel and like 6.90 a pound for cream cheese by the pound. So what qas the counter workers to do with your yuppie request. Did you expect to get the cream cheese for nothing, and do you really think the workers behind the counter really even know what you are talking about when you ask for some other cream cheese. Its a bagel with cream cheese, buy it, don’t buy, but to write about the experience on a blog is indicative of a man with little on his mind. I didn’t know what kind of bagel a Russian was. I’m glad you explained it. I like the combo of pumpernickel and onion. We differ on the cream cheese though. I prefer the whipped. Ok, so whats going on with this place? Did the owners sell it or did the workers just kill them, stuff their bodies in the walk-in and take over the joint? It’s mayhem in there. There are 3 workers behind the counter all screaming NEXT! NEXT! at nobody in particular, they are all running into each other and there seems to be a lot of confusion. Maybe if they turned the TV down (Which is blaring Univision, an odd choice to entertain your paying customers) and got a little more organized, they could get some kind of routine down. Right now its just a lot of aggravation to get a bagel. It was much better when that semi-hot girl was running things.

That useless tool who runs realboobken.com is biting off of your polling ideas. He has a poll for the best bagel in Hoboken today.

I guess that’s what too many summers at the Jersey shore when you’re 40 years old will do for you. That is all that guy ever writes about and now he is trying to be innovative and bite you 411. Not sure why anyone (including myself) even reads that site. I guess I have problems sleeping.
