Child hit by car – Newark & Washington!

1/13/2010:

Do people really need to rush around in the morning?

More pedestrian injuries in Hoboken!

Reported moments ago on the Hoboken411 Live Police and Fire Action Channel – “Pedestrian struck by auto – possible child!”

Currently, Washington is closed between Observer and First – and medics are en route.

Hopefully the injuries aren’t severe!

I’m surprised some liberal hasn’t suggested the idea of outlawing driving between the hours of 8am and 8pm. Usually someone chimes in with that.

Hope the kid is ok.

That or the other geniuses who want to ban all cars in Hoboken. Yeah, right …

that or the other geniuses who want a cop on every corner to incarcerate the kid and every other jaywalking criminal.

I hope the kid is okay.

The pedestrians are worse than the drivers in this town, and that is not saying much.

“..a Hoboken boy suffered a minor bruise on his leg…” which, thankfully doesn’t sound too bad.

Bad pedestrian = an inconvenience to drivers and a danger to themselves.
Bad driver = a danger to others.

Which is a bigger problem in this town with kids on every block?

The accident wasn’t at a corner. It was almost in the middle of the block. Almost by the entrance to Barnes & Noble. I was on the bus heading to the PATH and we had to get out at Washington and Newark since the street was closed.

Did you see it happen?

I’m hoping that is where the accident started, and not were it ended, if you know what I mean.

I do hope the child is ok.

Drivers speed like Frogger, and pedestrians dart around like Pitfall.

Every morning on that particular corner it is a game of chicken or frogger.

Amen, plywood! The corner of River and Newark is one of the most dangerous in Hoboken and really needs a traffic light. Countless times I have been 1/5 of the way across the street when the light at Hudson Place/River turns green and vehicles turn and race north on River to make the lights at 1st/River. Cars in the lefthand lane will see me and stop but those in the righthand lane will keep going and I am stuck in the middle of River while they race pass. Clearly not my fault – there was no traffic when I began to cross; but with no light or stop sign, drivers almost NEVER stop when proceeding northbound. It’s pretty scary.
