Observer “speedway” car wreck!

1/8/2010:

Whoosh! Screech! Boom! Crash!

Yet another accident on the straight and narrow Hoboken road called Observer speedway Highway!

Hoboken411 reader “Cap’n Tax Crunch” sent in some shots and a description. Both PSE&G and United Water have been dispatched to repair the damage to their infrastructure.

Imagine how this road will be when the “Great Wall of High Rises” is built by NJ Transit? Whoa Nelly!

Reckless Driver enforcement needed!

“This is what happens when people try to drive too fast and make turns to quickly. A minivan full of kids careens into a utility pole at the corner of Observer an Newark. Municipal Garage workers were first on scene alomg with HPD followed by HVAC and HFD. The kids are being checked for injuries. The utility pole is damaged and will likely have to be replaced but a head-on with the pole would have had far worse consequences. Observer Highway needs better speed and reckless driving enforcement. Whomever thought it was a good idea to call this road a highway was an idiot. They should change the name back to it’s original name — Ferry Way — and crack down on dangerous drivers.”

I see the same thing happening at my send of town. People are in a race to get out of the north end of hoboken and end up speeding through stop signs and around the speed bumps. I see people nearly get hit almost overtime I am out with my dog. The cross walks on 14 and 15 are optional to a lot of these drivers.

What’s in a name? That which we call a road.
By any other name would still be as shitty.

I hope everyone is OK. That’s a very scary scene. The pole could have fallen over and crushed the van. I’ve seen some really bad driving on Observer.
