Remove from the file: “Paying for what you get”
Not sure about any of you – but normally, I have no problem opening up my wallet and paying for things that are worth it. However, “paying for what you get” is not the case with some of our street cleaning I’ve personally witnessed lately. Not sure if it’s just the displeasure for working under the “new” administration or not – but this street cleaner that literally zoomed up the street at over 30mph – didn’t do jack squat to the debris on the ground – just spread it around!
So for those that were PENALIZED $45.00 for not moving their car – didn’t keep the streets any dirtier than they were if the street cleaner never passed by. What a sham!
PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

This is not a matter of sham but of supervision. It’s either the maintenance of the sweeper or not emptying it before continuing. In any event, the city made money but the clean street objective failed.

Most of what we pay for in Hoboken is a pointless endeavor.
However, this weekend I got my dog vaccinated for free. Kind of — I had to shell out 14 bucks for a city license.

Four of the Hoboken Street Sweepers are currently out of service for repairs right now. Maybe this was one of those 4 before they realized it was broken.

This is a matter of management as I referred to in post No. 1.
Four sweepers out of service for repairs! It is the job of the administration to hold department directors accountable and for the directors to hold their supervisors in check. One would think that with the cost to lease the Obs. Hwy Maintenance garage being over $100K per month, that we had a preventive maintentance program for our sweepers in effect.

Weekly dirt spreading cash generating mobiles. That says it all. It could be worse. Some towns spread the dirt to raise cash twice a week on the same side of the street.
