Readerpix: Sinatra Icicles

1/4/2010:

Hoboken411 reader Brooklyn Bridget sent in a few timely pictures to go along with the frigid weather we’re having! Taken along the cliffs on Sinatra Drive.

BB always provides nice pictures, they are really nice to look at. Brooklyn has produced lots of talent like Jay Z, Brooklyn Bridget and Nathans Hot Bogs 🙂

Nice pictures. During some of the harsh winters of the early 90’s, my friends and I would often go up by Stevens and Sinatra Drive. Stevens was great for sledding with trash can lids in certain areas. Eventually, they would kick us out.

Then we’d go down by the piers. Back then, nothing was developed yet. It was just abandoned piers. There would be gigantic piles of snow to play in. The river would be partially or completely frozen. There would be “glaciers” for us to go on (probably not the safest thing to do, but we survived). And we’d look for the biggest icicles under Stevens, like the ones pictured. We’d try to remove them in one piece and use them as swords.

Great memories. Thanks for bringing them out, Brooklyn Bridget.
