Newsstand – New!

12/29/2009:

Ah, here’s a Tuesday morning Hoboken business update on 411!

Moving on.. uh.. Across!

Vic, the owner of Vic’s Place across the street at 39 Hudson Place – has finally upgraded and expanded the ever so convenient, uh, convenience stand! Moving over to 38 Hudson Place several weeks ago (home of many failed operations – such as Mediterranean Grill, Texas BBQ, Peter Cammarano, etc.) – the new operation is 1000% better than before!

The same lottery tickets, smokes, PATH cards, candy and beverages – but with new additions, such as basic groceries, hot coffee, and soon – hot dogs!

Also included with the new shop is something they’ve never had – HEAT! Nice, too – because it blows hard on you right when you walk in, quickly warming you up from your long cold walk to work!

As of yesterday, they said that they plan to close down the little shack across the street some time in 2010 – but no exact date was given.

Do you like the “new” Vic’s?

Description: Newsstand, convenience store, Lottery, smokes, PATH Cards, beverages, soda, coffee, snacks, magazines, newspapers, etc.
Address: 38 Hudson Place, Hoboken, NJ 07030
Phone: TBD (number across the street was 201-659-8216)
Web: Probably no website – why would they need one?

i will miss the old run down stand – it was convenient to the PATH, the buses, felt right for the location

but we were promised all kinds of change so like the chicken, I’ll cross the road

Why do they sell coffee that is self serve next to a Dunkin Donuts? I do not give them 1 year.

Because that D&D sells the worst coffee in Hoboken and I might dare to say the entire D&D empire. I have no clue what they are doing, but I’ve tried the place three times and it never tastes like D&D coffee should.

Have to agree with everyone else. It seems like it is less convenient for people going to the PATH in the morning. Hopefully it works out well for Vic.

They can’t tear down the shack! We need to make it a symbol of uselessness, like the shack off the causeway on the way to LBI. 🙂

All kidding aside, I don’t know why, but I’m sorry to see the shack go.
