Confirmed working fire within the walls (east side) – they’re trying to extinguish it by sending water from above… Not a happy Xmas Eve event, that’s for sure…

Ambulance on scene at 2nd and Willow just in case – FD states it’s got water on the fire from multiple locations (roof, 5th floor, etc.)
They’re making sure adjacent buildings are evacuated, etc.
Also handing out blankets to those that had to go outside. It’s cold out there! Live nearby? Bring a coat to help out!

Managing this fire sounds complicated. They need holes cut in the roof, and are worried the fire in the wall is spreading up to the second floor and beyond.
Commander wants mutual aid to be on standby and is requesting housing for those that will most likely be unable to return to their homes tonight.

They’re ordering 101 Willow, the building on the corner to be evacuated as well.
At least four apartments are being affected at this time – and commander is notifying the mayor’s office. I suppose that is Jimmy Farina, according to the letter from Zimmer earlier this week.

Jersey City and Union City helping out on floors three and four.
HFD and HPD are trying to determine what to do with the displaced residents to keep them warm. They’re considering the Multi-Service center, and I believe PD may bring their bus down there as well.

Fire officially deemed out by HFD. Trying to reach the First Ward Councilwoman Castellano – and have been “unsuccessful” in reaching the Mayor.

And the FD tried contacting the mayor several times with no success (as of 5:20am). One family is in need of shelter (I suppose the others we OK in finding assistance.

A job well done by the HFD. Got ahead of the fire and stopped it from spreading and causing harm to life safety. As for the weather, the rather small holes can be covered quickly to prevent any damage from the elements. This is called ‘a good stop’. It’s the way it should be done and it does not generate headlines…just a job well done!

HFD is awesome! Great men who work tirelessly keeping us safe. Any word if any pets were injured in the fire? Hoping all were safe
