Open call auditions for Rent in February

The Theater Company (TTC) will be holding open call auditions for Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical RENT this coming January 2010.
Audition Dates & Location:
January 4 & 5, 2010 from 6-9pm (Callbacks: Wednesday, January 6 at 7pm) – DeBaun Auditorium, Edwin A. Stevens Hall – 5th & Hudson Sts., Hoboken, NJ 07030
NOTE: Auditions will be on a first come, first serve basis – no appointments will be scheduled nor will resumes/headshots will be accepted in advance.
TTC is seeking actors to play characters ranging from ages 19-35:
- Prepare 16 bars of 2 songs, genre: pop/rock/R&B/contemporary
- Piano accompanist will be provided
- Bring sheet music – acapella and tracks are not acceptable
- Be prepared for movement
- Please bring your resume/headshot with you if applicable
- Non-equity/non-pay, with small travel stipends available

RENT is based loosely on Puccini’s opera “La Bohème” and follows a year in the lives of seven friends as they deal with love, loss and AIDS while living the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New York’s East Village.
Rehearsals will all be in Hoboken. Performances will be February 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 & 13, 2010 at 8pm and 7 & 14, 2010 at 3pm at Monroe Theatrespace, 720 Monroe Street, Hoboken, NJ.
Originally named the DeBaun Players, The Theater Company is based in Hoboken, NJ, and has been presenting plays since 2000. In June 2007, TTC was awarded Associate Membership with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance and is also a founding member of the Hudson County Theatre Alliance. TTC’s mission is to produce theatrical productions that are accessible to people of every age, involving a diverse group of people on stage and off.
