Adopt Cats and Dogs on Jan. 31st!

1/30/2010 Reminder:
Don’t forget the Liberty Humane adoption van will be downtown tomorrow! Plus a special Valentines message!
“Have a Heart” Day
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Before you run off to the Hallmark Store to buy those expensive Valentine’s cards, would you reconder giving that money to LHS’ animals instead?
On this special day in which we all celebrate love, could you find it in your heart to donate $25.00 to Liberty Humane Society’s Medical Fund? In return, we will send you a beautiful 2010 Liberty Tails Calendar that you can give to your “special Valentine” instead of that expensive Hallmark Card – or you can keep it for yourself!
Liberty Humane Society’s Medical Fund provides critical funding for the medical care and treatment of the thousands of homeless animals that come through our door each year. So many come to us sick with upper respiratory infections or ringworm, and are in need of costly medication and treatment.
It’s easy to make your donation! Simply log onto www.libertyhumane.org and go to the donation page. In the memo section, put “Have a Heart”! Or, you can mail your check to Liberty Humane Society, 235 Jersey City Boulevard, Jersey City 07305.
1/13/2010:
Another Dog & Cat Adoption event downtown on one of my favorite days of the year! January 31st!
Downtown Hoboken, on Sunday, January 31st!
In case you’re in the market for a new animal to love in your life, one of the best ways to go about it is to rescue them!
Swing by near the Barnes & Noble bookstore downtown Sunday, January 31st from 11-4pm, where the Liberty Humane Society, with the cooperation of The North Shore Animal League, will have a mobile adoption van parked for you to check out the beautiful pets!

Will you be able to adopt on the spot or do you need to go to North Shore?

Anyone on here volunteer with LHS or any other local rescue groups? I submitted an application to LHS months ago and while not all that and a bag of chips, I had expected to hear something (and was open to whatever duties they thought I could help out with).

We went down there today to torture ourselves with seeing all the cute dogs, we’ve been tossing around the idea of adopting a pound puppy for a while, but not quite making the leap yet. Unexpectedly, I found myself absolutely falling in love with Rusty, a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. So sweet! So we’ve put things in motion to adopt him and will hopefully be picking him up on Tuesday evening!
I even let him lick my face! So I know it’s love for me!

North Shore Animal League is fantastic. I adopted a dog from there and was impressed with their screening process. They wanted 10 references from us. All in all I was told they called 7. The hardest part about NSAL is going to LI and seeing all those dogs bark when you walk by, they know where they are and they’re all barking and saying “pick me pick me the guy to my right sleeps too much”. It draws a tear that there are so many wonderful dogs and you can only pick one and when you take one out to play and get to know all the other dogs get a sad look on their face. God bless the NSAL

Nacholibre-Can you forward your info to me? Debbie@libertyhumane.org and I can send you info regarding our upcoming volunteer orientations. We have one tommorow at 2pm but I doubt you will get this in time. Our next orientation is on 2.18 at 7pm. If you cant make either of those, please let me know and we can find a date that works better for your schedule.
Debbie
