Car smashes into home – 8th & Bloomfield

12/9/2009:

Unexpected Dinner Guest

About 15 minutes in the past, a car (looked like a cab) smashed into the northwest corner of 8th and Bloomfield Streets.

It doesn’t seem like any pedestrians were hurt, and haven’t overheard any serious injuries. My bet is this accident was once again caused by poor visibility in the intersection.

Police say that when they pull the vehicle out, that part of the building may collapse (either the stairs or part of the front wall). Al Arrezo is on his way to the scene to give his expert advice. No one was actually home at the time of the accident.

1) I’ve seen lots more tickets lately from vehicles parked on the corner. This is good.

2) Looks like “selective ticketing” is still occurring. A few weeks ago, I noticed, on the west side of Wash between 13th and 14th, three cars that should have moved for street cleaning were still parked there. Two cars got off without a ticket. The third got a ticket. Why? All 3 should have gotten a ticket.

3) The driving on Bloomfield is maniacal, even in the middle of the day.

The Hudson County news is reporting that it was Jay Geldziler, 30, of Hoboken (NYC Federal Reserve Officer) who is being charged with Driving while intoxicated and fleeing the scene.

Punitive damages. My post was cut off. This is an excerpt from my old Yale Law Books
