Introducing a fun new daily feature special this week: Retro Videos & Commercials!
Take a trip through the time machine…
Many Hoboken residents grew up in or near the Tri-State NYC area – and may be old enough to remember some commercials or attractions that used to play over and over on our television sets.
So each day this week, I’ll present what I feel may be some of the most noteworthy and recognizable videos from days past. Will you remember any of them?
Remember these like yesterday!
To start off Retro Videos & Commercials week, will be two of what I believe are the most memorable commercials of all time. Mt. Airy Lodge and The Milford Plaza.
The Milford Plaza commercial was so well done and had such a catchy tune – it should have won an Emmy Award or something, excellent choreography too! Both businesses are still operational, in fact you can even gamble at Mt. Airy Lodge these days! (May have to check it out one day!)

The beautiful Mt.Airy Lodge: And at the center of it all is The Milford Plaza. I hum that tune to myself each time I pass The Milford Plaza on my way to the theatre.

Was MAL resurected? I recall reading in the Times how the place went defunct and got demo’ed about 10 years ago. They gave a rather disgusting description of rugs, tubs, bed linens, etc that hadn’t been replaced in decades.
BTW, the “Coffee Achievers” ad has been making its rounds lately. You might want to include that.

These commercials represent the best of the spectacularly cheesy 80’s! Was it Mt. Airy that had the swinger-liscious martini glass bath tub?

Great post idea, 411! I sang along with the Milford Plaza commercial as if I heard it yesterday. Amazing what impact these songs and visuals had on your memory!
I’ll be whistling the song all day now, thanks a lot!
Can’t wait to see what else you have coming this week… at the milford plaza!

I remember hearing and reading about that. They must have resurrected it. There is gambling there now as H411 mentioned.
