You folks are pretty harsh sometimes, there are some pretty good specials at the Malibu. Where else can you get shrimp Bolognese, garlic bread, a salad, and wine for $15? That said, I wouldnt go in there & order filet mignon.

I don’t know how anyone in their right frame of mind drunk or sober can actually say they eat at the Spa. The greasiest eggs i’ve ever had was at the Spa. Malibu is pretty much on point and their food is great and the service is just as good. I go there often and haven’t ever had a problem, and i love that they actually have parking on site. :)

Went to the Malibu for dinner after work the other night and they gave me a table in a corner where the seats faced the wall. The restaurant was almost entirely empty. I know they are trying to spread the wealth between sections, but am I to believe this was the only table in this girl’s section. I thought it was so funny that I didn’t even want to request another table. I love this place for its kitsch value more than anything else.

Couldn’t you have just switched around to the other side of the table and put your back to the wall? I’ve been in there and I can’t picture a table w/ seating on only one side that faces a wall.

No. If you walk past the bathrooms into the back room it was the table immediately to the right, pushed up against the wall with seats on only two sides, both of which faced a different wall. It was truly awesome. I’m not even complaining; I just found it hilarious.

As far as I know, the Diner’s management sucks as they do not give a shit about anything. Sometimes when there is a piece of hair in the salad they just take it to the kitchen, take it out with their hands and carry it out again. What complete uncleanliness. I have found cockroaches there many times and nothing has been done about it. There isn’t free refills for the sodas and they charge you individually for the tomoatoes. They are greek so maybe that’s why. The skinny guy who is the boss is completely ignorant and nasty. Their waitresses are nice except for the one named Vlasia. I saw her name on myt receipt and she is so nasty with a huge attitude. I would say it’s the worst diner I have been to. It’s all bullshit.

I don’t know what Jewel84 is talking about, I’ve always been a fan of Malibu Diner, I always crave their chicken wing zings, pasta, and their chicken gyros! They’ve always been succinct in their services and their food is always clean and incredibly fast.. I’ve been eating here for years and never faced any real issues with management, food service and quality of food service. Maybe they were nasty because you were nasty! not all consumers are “Right”
I love the malibu all in all… great food, great prices, fast & succinct, Parking!! – what else can you ask for in a crowded town in NJ, it’s a place you never have to wait for a table compared to all the other joints in the town!
Malibu Rocks! :-) try it out!

Never had complaints about this establishment either. I did notice renovation details that may include rooftop dining. There seems to be railing around the top now.

That’s just a parapet. There are way too many penetrations on that roof for dining.
Never had complaints about this establishment either. I did notice renovation details that may include rooftop dining. There seems to be railing around the top now.
The renovations are looking great & elimination of the chrome was the way to go. As for rooftop dining, I don’t think that seems possible.

All this thinking about the Malibu is making me really want an omelette and fries for lunch, but it’ll have to be the cafeteria at work for me today…

Place is awesome, I have to say I enjoy bringing friends and family when they visit to get the NJ Diner feel. Service is pretty good and the food is way above average. I usually go with burgers or breakfast food.

I visited yesterday and to much of my surprised they did some serious renovations and what a great job. I will be visiting again soon.

Just remember pancakes are always on the menu! :)

Anyone else find their new pole sign difficult to read? There’s very little contrast between the dark purple letters on the black skyline. I wonder how long until they replace that.
