One awesome thing about seasonal change in Hoboken – as well as in every other city across the country – is the changing landscape. Whether it’s nature (the leaves, snow, grass or whatever else) – or the holidays (Halloween, 4th of July, Christmas and Thanksgiving) – it’s always refreshing to see something different from week to week. Keeps life interesting.

Feng Shui in action in the Mile Square?

I can’t walk all 30+ linear miles of sidewalks in Hoboken on a weekly basis – but I do get around quite a bit. One thing I noticed the other day was two identical inflatable Turkeys. One in between 4th and 5th on Bloomfield, the other at 12th and Hudson. Seems to me that the instructions were Feng Shui-based or something like that: “Turkey will burst into flames unless you face eastbound.”

Dunno, some residents I spoke with feel these inflatable monstrosities are obnoxious, while many others just get into the holiday spirit and smile. I personally don’t mind one bit – as long as I’m not inconvenienced – and actually enjoy living vicariously through those that have more holiday spirit than I do.

So which one is better? Bloomfield or Hudson? And are there any other big puffy Turkeys I missed?
