Hoboken Parking Hypocrisy!

Hoboken Parking Hypocrisy continues 4 years later!

This city loves creating all sorts of tiny rules in order to justify pickpocketing residents and visitors for their own salaries, taxpayer funded healthcare plans and crony contractor friends. Presenting the ongoing Hoboken Parking Hypocrisy saga, brought to you in full – by your “Mayor” Dawn Zimmer.

Since the last update to this post four years ago – the parking “do’s and don’ts” continue to be more like parking “haves and have nots.” In this case – take a look at this car on Hudson Street. In NO WAY harming anyone, causing cars or trucks difficulty in turning, nada. It’s about a foot over this fantasy red line on the curb. They get whacked with a $75 ticket.

Zimmer administration parks illegally. No problem (for them)

Here we have a fancy Mercedes parked clearly illegally near the intersection of Newark & Bloomfield near city hall. I take a look at the dashboard, and the car proudly displayed a “City of Hoboken Administration” placard. What? That is the “Dawn Zimmer Administration,” to be more specific.

Translation? We steal from YOU – and we break the rules we force up your ass (and out of your wallet.)

Lastly – here’s one of the worst kind of offenders. An HPU money van, clearly parked in the red (like the poor guy above). No problem.

Translation? We park illegally so we can rob you for parking illegally.

If you’ve received a ticket in the past four years – why would you vote for someone to CONTINUE STEALING from you? You must LOVE abuse!

They want your money to fill budget shortfalls!

11/20/2009:

The number of complaints received by Hoboken411 regarding parking in Hoboken has skyrocketed immensely in the past few weeks!

I have so many photos from angry residents, I don’t even have the time to process them all. So I took the most recent gallery of a completely arbitrary violation. It’s apparent that the city is WAY short money, and have now enacted a citywide “pickpocketing” of their own residents. An uptown resident was so upset at getting this ticket – it begs the question: “What in God’s name are these so-called white-lines for?”

I’ve sent an email to the Parking Czar Ian Sacs for an OFFICIAL EXPLANATION to finally set the story straight. Since Hoboken411 gets over 2 million pageviews per month – the city would be doing a disservice to the residents if they do not respond in a timely manner. But then again, they only pander to those who kiss you know what!

“I was at the White Line! Right at it. $54.00 for what? So now I am supposed to take off a day of work to argue an inch with the judge?”

But commit the SAME violations!

This ought to piss you off even more. Here’s a gallery of a couple city vehicles – even MORE in violation of the ambiguous parking laws! No tickets, no regard, no enforcement. HPU employees walked by these two vehicles without issuing a summons! What gives, city-friggin-hall?

You voted her in!

I saw a uniformed HPU agent accept cash through a moving car window a couple weeks ago; it could have been his parents handing him lunch money for all I know but it was so awkward looking that it’s hard to write off.

After 20 years of living and driving in Hoboken and having the same complaints most of you have, I finally gave in last year and rented garage space on Hudson Street in Garage D. Now I no longer have to drive around for an hour looking for a space and then worry whether it’s legal. No more tickets, no more vandalism, no more stupid ads stuck to my windshield. No more moving it when the sweeper comes or having to get out before 8 if I could only find a metered space to leave the car overnight.

Yes, it’s a six block walk from where I live but the exercise is good and I also find that I use my car less than I did before. If I can walk there now, I walk. And if I do want to go out on a weekend with the car I can do that without worrying whether it will take me hours to find a space when I get back. It does cost $180 a month, which sounds like a lot until you break it down–$6 a day to get rid of that headache? Best thing I’ve done since I moved here.

A few weeks back I saw a parking ticket person scanning my car and getting ready to write a ticket. I yelled over at her and said “what are you doing? I am parked legally”. I caught up to her and she said yeah you’re ok. I can’t tell you how many tickets I have gotten when I am legally parked. They City relies on the fact that people have to work and don’t have the time to constantly go to court.

This not only happens in Hoboken but across the board in NJ. Neighboring states – PA and NY pit a halt to raising revenue through ticketing. The orders come from the top and even throughout the court system. Try to fight a ticket and you will see. I got a ticket in Newark at a meter that was still active and the street was legal to park. This is revenue pumping. The city council even changed the free parking shopping days as a GOTCHA! to pump up their revenues.
keep in mind the quality of professionals that are hired…in the field and behind the windows..this is situation norm if one wants to reside in fun city.
Just received my fifth parking ticket this year. My car was parked by Columbus Park on tenth and Grand in one of the Immoral Draconian red lines put in by this administration. The ticket was delivered like all tickets here in the Peoples Republic of Hoboken are delivered,in the most arbitrary of fashions. Cars are parked there right now in the very same spot I got my ticket in and most likely will be safe. It’s such a racket! I often wonder how long these crooks can get away with it. Of course I’ll pay it. Anything to keep me away from the filth of the Hoboken court system and the fat bellied crooked judges. A few weeks ago on a Monday morning, I awoke with my wife to bring her to her oncologist appointment where we would find out her fate, as we both battle her stage four cancer. We came out to find her car vandalized randomly most likely by some drunk having fun on a Saturday night. Thank God our Police are keeping us safe from parking our cars so diligently that they couldn’t possibly have time to protect our property. I mean how could that benefit their pension and salary. I pray there is a nice hot spot in hell for the scum sucking low life’s who grow fat off the corruption and cronyism of this Dem o Rat Stink hole.
