clarification: nothing by the DOE will happen. Now that KF is in, The specific audit violations have been brought to everyone's attention and for the first time. Furthermore, a date for a Corrective Action Plan has been noted and a presentation will occur in the Dec. meeting. This is amazing! I have never heard the Corrective Action plan nor the test scores presented before. Kudos KF! Keep up the good work!

Kf voted no on the contracts and budget. They did try to bring it to the attention of the public. Please note, the Auditor asks the Board President how he/she should present the information. Last year, (rhodes Kearns pres.) the auditor indicated that while there were some findings, the boe should be proud and feel confident that the admin were open and he had the utmost confident in the admin to correct any issues that the district may have. KF members continued to press the issues asking when these items would be corrected as many were going on for years. The Auditor responded that the admin assured him that it would be corrected. This rally went back and forth, for a while. Repeat violations were continually brought up, even as high as the comm. office--nothing was done. This is the reason you need an experienced and qualified Super. with an honest board. The violations go back as far as one can find.

You can search: njdoe kpmg audit 2006- to get an idea of DETAILED finding with appendix. AMAZING corruption. The BOE approved payment for Traffic violations, dinners at places like Amanda's, Frankie and Jonnie's etc..in excess of 50k. Truly amazing. The NJDOE is a broken oversite dept. which has little if any power or desire to hold anyone accountable. They have little, if any, control nor concern for violations of mandates and/or accounting principles. Nothing is done when violations occur. The only response one may get is.."vote in responsible people."

Just this year, the budget was submitted, ammended and approved by the county supt.jack was told he could not have the extra supervisors in the district so he transferred them into instructional services line. The county supt. approved this. I found it back then, (preapproval)-if i could find it, he could find it. Especially, when he told them to cut supervisory positions.

What will happen now that all has been discovered-nothing as usual- this stuff has been noted for years. It is what it is. Unless the concerned citizens get out there and hold people accountable, we are going to have these issues. Like the Commisioner's dept. said, "Elect responsible people."

In response to roadmodel who said:

how did all this get by Theresa when she was President and Trish was on Finance? More amazing is that KidsFirst
didnt vote "NO" to the food service contract.

Oh Please. Give it up. Everyone of your accusations are false. Not one bit of truth to any of it. With all due respect, if you want to keep any credibility you need to make sure your facts are remotely correct.

I have not seen one of these chicks in a school unless its for a meeting or Maureen's self appointed PTO president meetings. Jesus. Yeah..they are all the answer.

Carter and Rusack are the anser too right? Carter has so many lawsuits against him from Plainfield, its absurd.

I thank Phil for doing the right thing and resigning.

He was basically dead weight from day 1. He never seemed to be at any meetings, and didn't add much value at all. I don't think he is a bad guy, and he hadn't been on the Board long enough to really be accountable for the previous failings, but the BoE just didn't seem to interest him. I'm glad he's getting out, and hopefully his seat will be occupied by someone who truly cares about what is going on in the system.

This is great news! Long overdue - really - did he ever have original ideas or thoughts or was he just a mouthpiece/puppet? As a parent of children in the Hoboken Public Schools, it is so refreshing to see a Bd of Ed and Superintendent who REALLY DO care about doing what is best for the students and the schools - not inflating their egos or furthering their personal agendas. Keep up the good work!!

Wouldn't you also think, logically, that the guy was a friend of Pupie's and part of that gang...now you have a pro-Zimmer council, along with Zimmer in office...he probably was on the BoE hedging his bets for a better position if Cammarano hadn't imploded....stuck around until the election, saw that he has no friends in City Hall and jets...typical Hoboken mentality...

It has a lot more to do with the audit findings than not having time as a volunteer. This debacle was going on during his watch. He was on the Finance Committee and ran his campaign based on his professional ability. Oops.

The fact that he was not a regular at school board meetings before running, like Sulivan has been was enough to not get my vote.

The worm has turned. Raia gone, now DeFalco.

"To whom do lions cast their gentle looks?
Not to the beast that would usurp their den.
The smallest worm will turn being trodden on,
And doves will peck in safeguard of their brood."
