Hoboken Photo of the Day – 11/18/2009

We know winter is coming, and despite the cold sub-freezing streak we had back in October, I spotted this unusual instance of blooming flowers on the center island on 11th and Washington. Does that mean a cold winter is coming?

Does this happen every year? Or is this an anomaly?

This happened a few years back, we had Marigolds growing up until Christmas, and snow on the Roses, which have now been replaced by Applied. It was the mildest winter out of the past twenty. The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a short severe winter, with an odd heat wave in February, and a late Spring.
The cold and the snow and freezing rain serve a purpose. Kills viruses and germs and I hope the flu this year. Dress warm and
cover your neck and throat and ears, that stops a lot of sickness and ear infections! Perry wears shorts all year long.
Brrrrrrr! My knobby knees would forbid that….I am jealous…

Those flowers are beautiful. Purple is my favorite color.

Especially this purple. It’s kinda bluish. I like it!
