See the movie they didn’t want you to see…
“Delivered Vacant, an eight-year chronicle of housing gentrification in Hoboken. An intricate and deeply human portrait of the city and the people that lived there, the film went on to play at the New York Film Festival, Sundance, and the San Francisco Film Festival where it garnered a Golden Gate Award.
Naples on the Hudson to some, a square mile of prime real estate to others. From boom in the 80s to bust in the 90s, this dramatically engrossing documentary features a real-life cast of long-time residents, newly arrived yuppies, tenant organizers, real estate developers, street people & immigrants from around the world including the wackiest Mayor in America.
Hailed by Vincent Canby of The New York Times as “a fine, rich film … an urban epic.”

Last Winter I went to our fine public library to try and get this film, and was told on several occasions by several different staff members that they didn’t carry it. Does anyone know how I can obtain a copy?

I bought a copy of this move a while back – it is really quite stunning. It also shows the roots of today’s political struggles in this town.
BTW, you get to see Dave Roberts when he was a young councilman (I barely recognized him
) and a few other prominent “characters.”

Does anyone know where I can get a copy? The only copies for sale I saw were from “off the grid” production company at $395 a pop…

Is the musical version still available? Maybe as a double bill with “Les Misérables”?

I saw the movie about 10 years ago in the backroom of the Shannon Lounge – very enlightening.
I have also been unsuccesful in trying to get a copy of it. The Hoboken Historical museum should try to get the rights to sell it. I’m sure at $50 a pop they could have raise some nice funds.

The Hoboken Historical Museum has at least 1 copy, but it cannot be taken out. You can sit at the museum and watch it there. This is a low-budget production and the sound quality is not great, but it is powerful and a snapshot of the Hoboken of that time.

I been telling you folks to see this movie, it will change some of your opinions regarding born and raised. We were fighting development before most arrived. Many residents were burned or their homes for condos and higher rent paying folks. BTW, I have a copy and we can always work something out….HAHAHAH, seriously though, I have a copy…i think you can try the museum on 14th street. Ask Ms. Jacobson when you go see this…

My late boyfriend was born and raised in Hoboken. He was close to graduating high school. When the burning outs were taking place. He was on The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He also volunteered for The Red Cross. He lost many friends. It was something. He had a hard time dealing with and speaking about.

I just called the number that you provided. I spoke to Nora Jacobs. I went to the website that you provided. I just bought my own copy. Thank You for being so helpful. I have never seen this movie. I keep hearing how great it is. I would have missed tomorrow’s showing as well. I’m taking care of my tenant’s dog for the weekend. The movie time coincides with the dog’s walk time. I’m so excited to see this movie. I can’t wait until my copy arrives. Thanks So Much Again!

Thanks for posting this. I have wanted to see it for a while now but had a hard time locating it. Unfortunately, I have plans, so maybe I’ll buy it.
They really should make it available on Amazon or even Ebay.

Brilliant. Thanks. I’ll be out of town tomorrow, so this info is really helpful.
This film looks like it’s hot enough to burn a polar bear’s butt.
