Election nonsense is now OVER!
2009 will quite possibly go down as the single worst political year in Hoboken. Let’s just say we’re all collectively glad it’s over (except for those who get their rocks off). Now we can focus on actual life in town, rather than the lies, egos, pandering and hobnobbing that has taken place. Whew!

Forget politics – The Yankees winning the World Series over the Phillies was the most important story of the week! Whoo Hoo! - FINALLY!
Dawn Zimmer finally graduates from Dave Roberts Mayoral Acting School – and is set to walk in his footsteps. Hoboken411 will demonstrate as time progresses… - CAMMY!
Poor former mini-Mayor Peter C. was spotted a few times around Hoboken. - HIGHER!
More high-rise towers approved in SW Hoboken, paving the way for more flooding, not open space and parks. Watch developers line up like the day before an iPhone sale. - STAINED!
How do you handle dry cleaner disputes? What’s your favorite one in town? - SLOOOOOOOOOW!
Multiple residents are once again noticing Cablevision performance issues. - ARRRRRRF!
Is it possible Pit-Bull problems have nothing to do with whether they’re raised properly? - FURLOUGHS?
Do we really need to clean the streets so often? Especially if the dang machinery just swishes the trash around in circles? - SNOOOOOOZE!
Will we ever see a sensible, well run city council meeting in our lifetimes? Odds are not looking good.

It was real easy for Dawn Zimmer to become Mayor because the so-called local vote was split. Mason spent a lot and had the support of Mike R. and Perry B….Raia ran a smooth, professional campaign and had the support of Andrew A. and Steve C……Glatt had the support of Dave R., Maurice F., Dick E., Mike N……Dawn was sworn in and gave up her 4th Ward seat. In this regard, my way-out guess is that she will be replaced by a guy named Ramzi (sp).and not Lenz, Soares or Jake Stuiver.

Hoboken Mayoral Race Rotisserie Baseball is a great way to pass the time, but according to the logic being done to death here Tom Vezzetti would never had been mayor either. I believe in a head-to-head with any one of the other candidates Ms. Zimmer would have still won. Maybe we’ll find out for sure in 3 and a half years.

Tom Vezzetti became mayor because he worked extremely hard but Cappiello lost after 12 years in office because some of his own thought Vezzetti was a joke and wanted Steve to win by a lesser margin to show him a lesson and knock him off his high horse….that’s local folklore………the game continues…who be the interim counciperson in the 4th Ward…Ramzi? If Dawn does a good job, she may last 12 years as well……

Realstuff, the last time I heard that theory I was drawing off the tap a 4 oz styro cup of clam broth in the barroom at the Clam Broth House in 1985. There were these three guys who would hang out at the bar every Sunday night and talk mostly Hoboken. Anyway, a couple of weeks after the Vezzetti victory they discussed as well that the reason Cappiello lost is that is that “they” didn’t “pull the vote” for Cappiello on election day (meaning working the door to door asking their people if they had voted yet). Pot of steamers and a coquille please!
Anyway, you are right, next election cycle if the usual suspects don’t hang together, they will again most definitely hang separately.
