Pet fosters desperately needed!

10/27/2009:

Hoboken411 reader Laura wants to inform residents that there are better alternatives to area animal shelters, especially since many are in terrible shape!

Rescuing Pets is a good thing!

“Local Animal Shelters are very overcrowded and it has come to our attention that at least one local shelter is in desperate need of some help – I have a local rescue, out of Hoboken, called MCP Rescue. Our goal is to try’s and pull as many good, healthy dogs out of these shelters and put them into foster and hopefully forever homes. I am in desperate need of fosters.

How fostering works: Go on our web site: www.animaladoptions.weebly.com and fill out a foster application.

After some review we will match the right dog up with you. A foster dog, on average will stay with from anywhere from a week to 3 months, (averages about a month) depending on a few factors.
Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns you have: LLenoci@aol.com

Here are pictures of just some of the available dogs we have. Sorry Charlie, Milo, Levi.

And here is a list of more:

If you are unable to foster there is a place to make a donation on our website as well. Also passing our information to your friends and coworkers would be a great help as well!

PS, Hoboken411’s Oscar, is one of my rescues!”

There are also a ton of great rescue groups in our area (they pull animals from high kill shelters). Petfinder.com is a great resource if you are looking to adopt a dog, you can even search by dog size, breed, age etc so you can find exactly what you’re looking for. I would definitely recommend doing research on any rescue group you find on there, just to be sure they’re a legitimate organization, but that’s how I found my dog and she’s fantastic. Most of the rescue groups on there are very thorough (I had to fill out an application, provide references, etc) and sincerely concerned with finding a dog the best home they can be placed in. My email is saf901@gmail.com, if you are interested in learning more about the group I went through. Good luck!

Adopting truly was the best choice my wife and I made when it came to getting a dog. If anyone wants information about North Shore, where I got mine, I’d be happy to share. I’ve heard good things about Liberty Humane Society as well but haven’t been there.

I will be happy to find anyone that wants a dog the right one for them~! Please don’t go to a petstore or breeder. What kind are you looking for?
