Morning Water Cooler – 10/16/2009

10/16/2009:

A few things that people in Hoboken and around the country might be talking about today…

Dopey Balloon – what makes it such big news?

Do you think this silvery balloon and the potentially lost 6-year old kid should have gotten the extensive coverage it did? Aren’t there more important things to educate the public about? Like soldiers dying in Afghanistan, the global economy, and joblessness? All about the ratings and the moolah, baby.

Obama Brainwashing?

Apparently, the Obama Administration wants to softly brainwash the tens of millions of lazy Americans who are glued to their TV sets. I say turn off your TV’s next week!

Baseball League Championship Series

Congrats to the Phillies for taking game one from the Dodgers.

I only wonder how the nor’easter will affect the Yankees – Angels series here in New York. They might get game one off tonight, but tomorrow isn’t looking as good at the moment. There goes the rest/travel day!

Who do you think will win?

Train platform, mother with stroller lets go to do something, stroller rolls towards tracks, mother runs to catch, too late stroller and baby falls into tracks as train runs over baby – baby survives!

Hmmmm…

WWII vs Obama pitch

Global warfare on two fronts with millions dead and fought against formidable foes seeking world domination – vs – a recession.

You’re right – almost the same thing.

When it comes to dismissive but otherwise frivolous replies you are the MASTER.

BTW, you never did present any evidence of strand tramp’s rampant “racism.” Now that I think about it MSNBC and CNN tried that recently with someone else but they too came up empty when pressed for actual evidence. Fake but accurate, right?

Balloon boy’s family’s interest in publicity (Wife Swap etc, google it) puts a air of suspicion on this entire event.

If this proves to be a hoax, the ole man should do some serious jail time.

Multi-topic thread.

1. Balloon Boy – I actually thought he hid in the attic because he was messing around with the balloon and lost it, freaked out and hid. But the Larry King interview I’m reading about says the kid blurted out, “We did it for a show”. King asked him to explain, the father tried to say he was talking about the past show they did Wife Swap, which to me has nothing to do with the current balloon.

2. Big government taking over media to push their message – what people are missing here is that part of it: government is intruding more and more into our lives and trampling over individual rights, attacking any media not on the bandwagon, bringing back another version of the “Fairness Doctrine”, quietly approaching the NEA to push artists to push the government’s agenda, writing/co-writing lesson plans to be given to little children in public schools to push the administration’s agenda (and then back tracked), and actually trying to force americans to buy government health care or be fine thousands of dollars (where in the Constitution does it expressly give them that right?). All in all, it is what it is. Posters I’m sure will pick over the excuses, but when it comes down to it, this is extreme government intrusion into the private sector of rights the government absolutely does not have. And the spending on top of that.

3. Baseball – My dad really wants the Phillies to take it all this year.
