TD Bank: Another empty storefront

What should come to this storefront next?
Not sure how long it’s been since TD Banknorth eliminated this branch at 609 Washington Street, but it’s now vacant, and awaiting another tenant.
Coincidentally, one Hoboken411 reader “CastlePointWatcher” made a reference to this building the other day, indicating that former tax-collector Louis Picardo owns the building, and the tax assessment recently increased from a paltry $100k to a semi-paltry $700k.
Frankly, I’m more concerned with better Washington St. businesses coming… like more 24 hour retail for us midnight oil folks!

The improvement assessment went from $100,000 to $700,000. The TOTAL assessment was $700,000.00 and is now: $1,300,000.00
Which is still not enough, but the fact that we were able to administer some justice to Mr. Picardo is wonderful.

Judging by comparables and condition? The assessment should likely be in the 1.7M to 1.8M range. Now, PLEASE remember — that is NOT NOT NOT the value!! The value is MUCH more than that.
Take a look at 613 Washington. Right next door. Same size, only the condition (effective year) isn’t even close. Picardo’s building is in MUCH better shape. Picardo still has a nice deal (although it has to sting to lose TD) — makes me wonder if TD left because of the increase? I have to figure they were triple net… I don’t know.
Anyway, let me know if that answers the question.
