Hoboken Photo of the Day – 10/9/2009

Oscar and I had the pleasure of running into the most beautiful and peaceful Great Dane at the Shipyard dog run recently. The 411 Mascot was mesmerized by the sheer might of this beautiful canine!

That looks like Beckham. A beautiful Dane, inside and out.

Yeah Oscar is a great dog.. What breed is he? I can’t recall seeing one like him before.

There was a guy who lived in the shipyard who had TWO great danes. He must have had a huge place, because he was married with at least one kid.

Remember that Great Dane … can’t recall Elysian Park frequent dog’s name, but owner’s name was Wes and he and his partner, kids moved to London?

Anyway, little-girl-dog Trinity loved that Great Dane. And as a result, she “loves” (i.e. shows interest and tries to hump) greyhounds and any other large dogs.

My sister in Seattle has a great dane mix and a rodesian ridge/hound mix. Both HUGE dogs, and I always wish I could fly Trin out to Seattle to meet them.

lhoward222–I could be wrong, but I’m almost positive you’re talking about Wes and Ty. They were in Columbus park a lot also. Wes was a great guy and Ty was the perfect great dane.

I’m glad I was just meandering around the site and came across this. I was wondering what happened to them. Unfortunately, with the big dogs their time can come kind of fast so it’s good to know that wasn’t what happened.

I saw this dog today coming out of the shipyard (with the woman who was walking him/her ,of course). the photo does no justice whatsoever in determining the size if this beautiful animal.
