Bollywood films in Hoboken

10/8/2009:

Looked like a Michael Jackson impersonator

An Indian film crew was spotted at the Maxwell Place Park yesterday. A total of about 25-30 people – actors, boom operators, lighting technicians, makeup, cameramen, etc. I asked one of the guys and he said “Bollywood movie” – but didn’t know the title of the film. He said they’ll be in Hoboken for a couple days this week. I would have stuck around, but was breaking the dog & grass rules and had to scurry along.

The fences are down. Thanks to Jon Pop and his asst. (Maria? Sorry I forgot) for responding positively. After 3 months of phone calls, we finally have our view back.

And shame to the woman who answer “Stevens Park” when call the parks dept. #. The lies and attitude about why they hadn’t removed the fences spewing from her mouth must be the reason why Hoboken stinks so badly. I hope she gets a life.

Yes! There’s no de-fence for that behavior.

10 year old collapsing piers and now this? ! What the heck goes on in the planning stages of these projects? It’s not like Hoboken invented the waterfront park. Why are these projects always so “lipstick on a pig”?

Agreed on both fronts, homeworld. Anytime I am there, I wish I carried around a pocket knife; I would have cut it down. However, I’ve probably complained too much about it, so I am sure the city would subpoena my info from Perry, and then I would be in legal trouble, etc.

To take their defense of the fence one step further, the man from the city claims that the little chain fence Maxwell Place put up in the first place wasn’t adequate. He implied that the people who visit this park would somehow hurt themselves on the rocks, and there should have been a more substantial fence put up in the first place. Cuz you know, adults would fall from the path, crack their skulls on the rocks along the river, and sure the city. So this orange snow fence wasn’t just because of geese, but also for the safety of our citizens!! I laughed despite my incredulity. It’s so absurd in so many ways, this “logic”!

See how they shift responsibility AND build their case for keeping the fence up? This fence is never coming down.

Hah. Have they ever been to the Manasquan inlet? There is no fence preventing people from falling into the inlet, and that’d be a more worse fate then the banks of the Hudson River. Nobody has sued the Army Corp of Engineers yet.

Congratulations on getting the fence down. I noticed it gone when I took a walk there on Thursday.

Chicken wire would serve the same purpose as the snow fence, but not look AS horrible.
