Hoboken Breakfast Nuggets – 10/5/2009
What’s going on this morning?
Today’s specials on the Hoboken411 Breakfast Menu are: Oatmeal – “Bowl of Business as usual at City Hall,” Entree – “Kimberly Glatt Platter,” and for the Appetizer – “Side of deep fried Monroe Center Uh-Oh’s….”
Special City Council Meeting Tuesday
Did you know there is a special Hoboken City Council meeting for Council President Dawn Zimmer to review the Director appointments of Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer?
No? Maybe that’s because there’s been no public notice. You’ll find no mention on the City website, or in the weekly paper where the legal notices go. The Acting Mayor’s Acting Directors have been acting on the job for weeks despite a statutory requirement that the City Council vote to make them official. Tuesday night at 7pm the council will “interview” the directors ahead of a formal vote. Ahead of that meeting, keep an eye on Hoboken411 for the investigative results into Zimmer’s director choices.
Kimberly Glatt Kickoff Tuesday
If the Tuesday night rubber stamp fest at City Hall doesn’t float your boat, you could try the official campaign kickoff of former Municipal Judge Kimberly Glatt. She’ll be “Spreading the News” of her bid for Mayor at the 536 Washington Street storefront that used to be home to the “Life is Good” store of the same name. Glatt’s event follows a meet-and-greet last Saturday at the office of former Peter Cammarano running mate Mike Novak. The kickoff begins at 6:30pm Tuesday. Your neighbors are reacting to the Glatt candidacy here.
“Big Day” for Monroe Center today?
Word is that today the court might decide the future fate of the Monroe Center – and whether the owners will be permitted to keep the building, or if it will be sold. Many artists that call the Monroe Center home are a bit concerned about the outcome.
