Grande Pizza, Wings to Go

8/3/2009:

The owners of Grande Pizza, Wings to Go – contacted me because they wanted their most updated menu on Hoboken411. Here ya go, guys!

Personally, I’ve only tried the pizza here – and I’ve read that some readers really like the wings. Are they that good? Any comparisons?

Didn’t like the pizza. Wingys are much much better.

They offer some nice selections of stuff and decent prices. They’re Sheese Steaks are an awesome value and their fries are the best

The pizza isn’t bad in a pinch, but certeainly not worth seeking out. The wings look like they came from anorexic chickens on life support.
And how about that $2.00 delivery charge. That takes some balls. They should be run out of town for that alone.

If you enjoy eating food off the floor this is the place for you. I was there at 2pm yesterday, January 1st. I ordered a large pie with chicken and meatballs. While the guy was cutting my chicken into pieces he dropped some on the floor, picked them up, held onto them for a second and then placed them back with the other pieces! I couldnt believe my eyes. When I saw him walk to the front and start to put them on the pizza I immediately told the other employees what I had just seen. They all looked at each other and then the woman started smiling, like it was a big joke. She said, oh, we’ll get you new. Are you kidding me, I just watched you try to put dirty floor chicken on my pizza and you laugh like its a joke? Disgusting! I walked out, letting her know that I would be calling the BBB. I would not recommend this place to anyone. ❗

My spouse and I ordered food from here today which was delivered to our apartment. We ordered one pound of mild wings, a pepperoni roll, a chicken roll, and a slice of cheesecake. The delivery was fast and the man who delivered the food was nice. That is the only good thing I can say about this place. When you get something that cheap that says something for itself. The wings were okay but the rolls were so burnt and very bland as well. The cheesecake was also bland from what my spouse had said. I would not recommend this place to anyone. ❗

I’ve ordered from here a few times. I agree that the pizza is nothing special, but I’ve never had a bad experience with their wings, sandwiches and other stuff. And it’s not that the pizza is BAD — there’s just far better pizza in 07030.

Fried food cannot be delivered and satisfactory. Too much steam. And, Cheesecake from a pizza joint? How much crack do you smoke?

I actually had this on Tuesday night. It’s like someone who had a pizza place decided one day to buy a wing franchise and combine the two. Wasn’t very impressed w/chicken tenders and shocked they are even in business.

why would anyone downtown order pizza from anyone other than Fillipo’s on First? good quality products and the real owner is there every day. great guy who is enthusiastic about his business and likes to speak with customers and get their input. i have had only a handful of mishaps with these guys over 3-4yrs of ordering from them.
i would rather eat cold tuna from a can than order from Imposto’s or 7Stars or Grand pizza! Do not order from those places; bugs and hair.

I wasn’t at Grande for the pizza myself, was curious about the “Wings to Go”.

Agreed about Fillipo’s, great owner and good (not great) pizza for the area.

Well, they cook their crust until it is so well done that it explodes in your mouth like eating a light bulb.

Not to mention they guy is a bit of a douche.

If you are going to spend money on overpriced pizza there, why not just spend $2-3 more and get a Grimaldis pie?

  12. Skywalker says:

Wings are surprisingly decent at Wings to Go but I don’t see why anyone would choose to get pizza there, it’s like one of those places in the city that has Mexican or Dominican food and pizza — pizza is not exactly their specialty and it shows.

That said, Filippo’s on First is overpriced and the pizza is just mediocre. Imposto’s is nothing special either but I’d go there before FoF.

  13. yellowsubmarine says:

everything but their pizza is pretty good. i’ve been getting salads, cx tenders, appetizers, antipasto salads, burgers, etc there for years; their pizza is average but i eat it because i’m not a pizza snob. dough, cheese, sauce, i’m there.

Agreed. Have you tried Mario’s? It’s pretty great. And Rosarios is wonderful (as long as you pick it up, delivery is not good).

I actually get wings delivered from here pretty often and for delivery they are pretty good. I like the homicidal sauce, it’s damn hot. They are also pretty quick with their deliveries.

  16. getz76 says:

The food was terrible; wings and pizza included. I ordered one time for pick-up and that was enough for me. The wings were awful.

Hey, I hate to say, that the only wings in hoboken that are better, are the wings i make in my own deep fryer.

these are my favorite wings for a delivery place. please let me know if i am severly sheltered in my wing experience, because if there is one thing this central new york kid loves,,,,,its good wings

I think Urban Chicken has the best wings in Hoboken but the delivery is spotty and the introduction of Cluck U has not helped matters. Maybe volume is down and affecting morale? But nonetheless great wings at Urban Chicken and the chicken tenders are massive and delicious.

*But go pick them up or you’re rolling the dice at Urban Chicken. Great steak fries there too BTW.

Biff — where can you find unsoaked wings? It seems to me like all the frozen raw wings in the grocery store have been soaked in that phosphate stuff that prevents me from getting a good crisp skin for the longest of time. It seems like by the time I get the skin crispy the meat underneath is destroyed. Have you found a good source?

I reduce my Frank’s sauce in a pan for a few minutes and then goose it with a dash of this & that. I’ve never been able to duplicate my old college bar’s recipe. (PJ Bottoms, at SUNY Buffalo.) What’s your recipe for the sauce? Anything special?

the wings here are tasty and cheap.. dont know what else you could want from a place. oh and theyve got parking too.. so no need to do the washington street double park and run

  19. tkoby11 says:

Seriously? I walk by here on my way home from work and it smells pretty bad on the way home. Not surprising because before I had moved to where I live now I had ordered from them:

    Pizza: average
    Wings: a disappointment

    • yourbrainondrugs says:

Couldnt agree more…the Wings are God Awful…I would buy the Purdue Pre-Cooked Wings before I would go back to this place…
