Rent Leveling Meeting tonight

9/21/2009:

Better late than never…

Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer had recently called for a series of Rent Control Committee meetings, however, Acting Mayor Zimmer had failed to update the Hoboken City Website reminding residents about tonight’s meeting in a timely manner…

city-hall-hoboken-rent-control-meeting

Ann Holtzman (who works with Beth Mason) – wants everyone to know:

“The city has fallen down on the job of posting the meeting schedule for the City Council Rent Control Committee meetings. Tonight is the first one at 7:00 in Council Chambers, City Hall. Subject will be Rent Calculation Procedure.

We will be using the same hearing format that is used by the State Assembly;

  • Speakers are asked to sign up with the City Clerk’s office prior to 3:00, either by phone (201) 420-2073 or email cityclerk@hobokennj.org
  • Speakers will be limited to 5 minutes each.
  • They are asked to bring 10 copies of the text of their statement for distribution to the council and clerk.
  • The committee reserves the right to swear-in those giving testimony.

The goal of the committee is to review and propose new language for the legislation that would “clean up” the ambiguities that leave the door open for litigation. No one is proposing that rent control be eliminated – although there seems to be a misinformation campaign to that effect.

BTW, what is it with your apparent adoration of arrested Mayors. Your glowing support of the 2 Hoboken Mayors, arrested for corruption, are the people you thought were competent and honest. Really? honest? Are you implying something about the candidate you are planning to support this time around?

colin, the zimmer voters did not decide the election in june; she lost to camerano. strand, yes, justice is slow but you are talking conviction even before indictment. if camerano is guilty it was reprehensible but, since so far this far reaching sting operation has only had two guilty pleas and two indictments on one single count it seems that there was a lot of fishing going on in terms of defining targets for the investigation and in terms of methodology. adding camerano at the last minute smelled of ashcroft at the time. perhaps you admire ashcroft but i think pretty much everything he does is politically motivated or motivated towards undermining our fundamental rights as citizens.

ashcroft? WTF? you leap from petty scumbag cammarranno and you leap to ashcroft? “if camerano is guilty…” WHAT? THEY HAVE HIM ON TAPE. how about this; scammarranno is sitting in a room with no windows, at a table writing furiously on a legal pad, trying to think of any and every person he can squeal on. THAT is the only reason you have not seen anymore headlines on this case. as for the erosion of “citizens rights” i am assuming you are talking about al-queda murders held in detention who should have public defenders assigned and have “their day in court” right? you are definately NOT describing obama’s trampling on the constitution to give Chrysler to the UAW as a payback, at the expense of the debt holders and all their shareholders right? what a F’ng moron. turn off your lap top and go call ACORN or the ACLU. you belong with them. So.. according to you, the FBI is politically motivated toward undermining fundamental rights (this is somehow tied to Cammarano getting arrested?), Zimmer is a liar, Russo was great.

It would appear, that you believe the FBI arrests were based on “a-lot of fishing” because only 2 people plead guilty, therefore the other 40 or so people are really innocent and this was all to undermine fundamental rights? WOW! seems far reaching.

no one buys my support. i prefer politicians who do not lie to me. dawn has lied to me.

dawn’s style is very similar to that of mayor anthony russo with one exception; he did not lie to his constituents. you always knew exactly where he stood and if he was going to change his mind he told you why (see pier a/port authority history for that if you care; he originally supported the p.a. but then decided a park would be better for hoboken and would be what the people really wanted – he was honest about it).

dawn lied about the absentee ballots two years ago. she lied about the cause of the “schism” in the reform movement. she lied about the notary public verification on her petitions this time around. enough with accepting lies from dawn and attacking everyone else. am i attacking dawn for her flaws? perhaps, but maybe that is because i expect better from a real reformer. go beth.

Oceanbloo keeps speaking sense.

I hope that Zimmer is no more a criminal than she has to be.

If Petey had been only a common criminal, he would still be in office.

you rabid mason people seem to have the wrong impression of most zimmer people that i have met. while you are red loon and her buddies come here and attack and attack and attack (true obamaniacs btw) it seems to me that zimmer people voted for her by and large because mason sunk her own ship. they certainly weren’t going to vote for the criminal… but i could be swayed to vote for someone else. i have clearly said time and time and time again that none of these local politicians impress me. zimmer could be doing a lot of things better. i don’t know the forces at play here (the corruption must go all the way to the top in NJ) but she certainly is not free to do as she chooses as roberts was. but how about you idiots STOP the left wing attack mode that you honed at the national level and just give us some real reason to think something, ANYTHING will change around here. as i said earlier the pier falling into the water is quite timely.

Yes, you are loyal to the people who buy you off. You at least have that going for you.

But it would be nice if you could stop copying and pasting the same posts all the time. One might as well ignore you half the time b/c once we read one of your “attacks” we pretty much don’t need to read the rest.

matt-

You sound very desperate to resort to such immature baseless comments.

I’ve never been bought off and I can’t imagine who you think I’m supposed to be loyal to.

I’m not copying and pasting the same posts, if anything, I don’t even post 10% as much you do with your same old attacks against anyone that isn’t Zimmer.

I’m not surprised though, when the Zimmer supporters and Zimmer herself are called on their hypocrisy, your fallback response is always “I’m going to ignore you, we don’t need to hear you, you’re made of rubber, I’m made of glue….” Yeah, yeah, yeah.

You’re hoot matty!
