Organized Drinking Event in Hoboken

“Last year saw over 400 participants having a great time all over Hoboken, all the while raising several thousand dollars which was donated to Cancer Research. This year we are looking to go even bigger!

For those of you who were not able to make it out last year, The Hoboken Bar-Athon takes the majesty of the New York City Marathon and adds a distinctively Hoboken twist substituting bars for miles. On Saturday September 19th, join fellow Hobokenites, Bar-Athoners and party people on a day-long bar tour of Hoboken. It all starts with registration at Scotland Yard (72 Hudson St. around the corner from the PATH, with the Red Telephone Booth in front of it) between 12:00pm and 2:00pm, where we will also be kicking things off with great specials, and some giveaways and surprises! Each Bar-Athoner will receive a T-shirt which doubles as your mile marker.

On the back of each shirt will be a checklist listing all 26 participating bars. Don’t forget your markers. Remember it’s not a sprint- it’s a Bar-Athon!

The Details

The Hoboken Bar-Athon will take place throughout the city of Hoboken, spanning a good portion of its one mile squared area. After meeting at the designated starting point, there is no official route. You may go any way and in any order you like.

What You Get:

The cost of the Bar-Athon is $25.00 for registering prior, and $30.00 day of. For this you will receive an Official Hoboken Bar-Athon T shirt, sweatband, and a $5.00 donation will be made to charity on your behalf. This is all non-refundable.

They were yellow or orange. Everyone was drinking heavily to get over the money we wasted on those dumb shirts. The bars were understaffed since they didn’t know this crawl was happening so it was impossible to get drinks. And it was just the normal Saturday specials so we threw away $30 each when we ‘registered’ for this crawl.

And yes, the crowd was pretty lame. I’d avoid it at all costs unless you enjoy throwing your money away and hanging out with tools.

I went last year and the its definitely not worth it. They take your money, give you a cheap shirt, and you’re on your own the rest of the day. If you really want to drink just go to the bars without paying for a $30 t-shirt. My friends and I basically handed over $150 for nothing last year. That would have covered the ENTIRE day at the bars with the normal Saturday afternoon specials. Such a waste of money. Hopefully no one else falls for this scam this year. I already learned my lesson.

I made the same mistake. Thought it would be a fun daytime social thing in town… But you don’t get anything for the money. Just ended up wandering around wearing matching t-shirts with my three girlfriends instead of some cute hot outfits. 😉

Haha they must have made a ton of cash off you suckers. Maybe I’ll have my own bar crawl next week. No t-shirts so registration will only be $20.

Years ago we just called it bar hopping and we did it to get wrecked for free! the first bar hop I remember started in the wilton house and ended for me in Arthur’s when my brother played grab ass with a waitress and we were tossed but not before we drank for free in 6 bars just for showing a bunch of idiots where each bar was because they couldn’t follow a map of Hoboken, then we bounced my van all the way to Kelly’s pub where we met up with the wankers and proceeded to drink for free. Mr. Kelly kicked them out after hustling them in pool as we laughed at them and they stumbled to the street for that was their last stop! If you want to drink for free offer to show them the way from bar to bar than just call ahead and tell the bartender you’re bringing 20 friends and you must drink for free or you’ll pass them by!
