Diana’s Café {then and now}

Not a trace of Diana’s left in Hoboken

Just about three years after closing and remaining vacant – the space formerly occupied by Diana’s Cafe was quickly leveled and cleared out.

Below are some before, during and after pictures.

Those quaint and far from perfect little eateries are what made Hoboken unique. Before the days of stylized marketing and logos, social streams, blurbs about sustainability and other superficial bullshit. It was just a place with people trying to make a living.

One of these days the world will come back to basics… when is anyone’s guess.

Diana's Hoboken Then and Now

Diana’s Café closing in Hoboken, NJ

July 2013:

Diana's Café closing in Hoboken NJSeems like Mayor Zimmer’s plan to get rid of “old Hoboken” is working. IN with places like Baby Gap, Anthropologie and OUT with places like Maxwell’s, Tutta Pasta, The Tux Shop and now Diana’s Café, which is closing this Sunday.

Their parting words were: “Diana’s Café will be closing for business… Our last day will be Sunday, July 28, 2013. We would like to thank you for your patronage over the years! We appreciate your business and friendship… Sincerely, Tom Torre & the Diana’s staff”

Up next? Probably more condos. One less dining option for mid-Hoboken residents. Bummer. Slim-pickin’s for them folks.

India on the Hudson is closed now too. I ordered food and picked it up the other night and the waiter told me tomorrow (7/26) was their last day. I was really sad because that place has great food. Maybe another nail place can move in there….

This is by far the WORST place I have ever experienced in my life. Have ordered carry-out 3 times from there and ALL 3 times they forgot something, gave me the completely wrong order, or gave my order to someone else. I asked for my money back when they did not give me something I already paid for, and they literally tried to short change me. I asked to see the menu and they said the price wasn’t on there so I asked to see my ticket and it was a different amount. TERRIBLE people.

Good food (soup too) and reasonable prices. Been around awhile. It has it’s share of colorful characters. Great stop!
