How popular is tennis in Hoboken?

Does Professional Tennis have a lot of fans?

If I had to rank the popularity of sports in Hoboken – I’d probably say: Football, Baseball, Golf, NCAA, NBA, NHL, then everything else (probably UFC, NASCAR, then tennis).

But apparently the Tennis Channel doesn’t think so. From the looks of this door-hanging advertisement on practically every home in Hoboken yesterday – they’re mad that Cablevision dropped this network – and are pleading for tennis fans to make the switch to a different TV carrier.

About the only tennis I ever see on TV is some highlights on ESPN.

I think this was a terrible ad blitz and is only pissing people off with the knob hangers in the gutter.

tennis on TV is about exciting as watching golf and waiting for paint to dry

If you didn’t see the Andy Roddick-Roger Federer match at Wimbledon this past July or the Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal match the year before you missed two of the finest mano a mano contests that sports have to offer.

Yes on NETWORK TV, no one wants to watch the Leggs-Mason cup

This is similar to the situation with NFL Network. Cablevision wants to add it to the sports tier so that those who want it will have to pay for it. The Tennis Channel wants none of this. They want cablevision to put it on the basic tier and either absorb the cost of carrying it or raise rates. Either way the Tennis network doesn’t believe people should be allowed to pay for only only what they want.

Cablevision is no saint but if a niche channel like the Tennis Channel can’t entice people to pay to receive it then maybe it’s not Cablevision’s fault

I don’t think Cablevision ever included a tennis channel. I have the gold package. I never had the tennis channel.
