Helmer's isn't a beer hall.

Try getting 20 friends together there to enjoy some beers outside at Helmer's.

Besides, I like Helmer's but hell, since when are mashed potatoes made from potato flakes genuine?

Why trek to J.C. for a place that has umpteenthousand rules when Helmer's a genuine German restaurant and bar exists right in Hoboken?

Agreed. I don't get grossed out by most things. But vomit is pretty awful-- you can smell it from a distance.

Nasty.

In response to Gretchen who said:

Stopped by the Zeppelin over the weekend.
I looked quickly for the sign and didn’t see it but I did see…

Plenty of baseball caps (many worn backwards) and some baggy pants.
Not sure if I know what ¾ pants are but there were definitely numerous guys and girls in shorts. In some cases, athletic shorts.

I didn’t check everyone’s shirt for stains but I’m sure upon closer inspection some could have been soiled.

There were definitely people loitering outside.

And there is a good amount of construction in the neighborhood. So if those on a local job wanted to pop by after work for a few beers while still wearing work boots I doubt this place would turn them away. It would be silly for them to do so. I mean the place is basically a bunch of picnic tables.

And do guys coming off a construction site smell any worse than the women in their teeny summer dresses who just vomited for the third time because they can’t handle their booze?

I’d take the body odor over vomit any day.

Clam Diggers. Been around since the 50's, and I own a couple of neat pairs. I like 'em.
