Summer Drink: Swedish Fish Cocktail

8/6/2009:

Perfect Summer Diversion

Have any of you tried the new Swedish Fish Italian Ice flavor at Rita’s Ice?

I had this the other day and was blown away.. very tasty and refreshing! So good, I thought – “this would make a great cocktail! Blend some vodka in, and you have the ultimate summer Slurpee!”

Apparently I’m not the only one, as I’ve heard that Stevens students buy this by the bucket and do just that.

Oh, and for those of you thinking “my $50 bottle of vodka is the best,” read this – you probably can’t tell the difference either.. stick with the cheap stuff and you’ll be just fine.

No offense but… Blech. Swedish Fish don’t really taste like anything!

I am one of those vodka snobs, but only drink my vodka on the rocks or with a little club soda. I usually only drink ketel one, and really don’t like grey goose. Smirnoff is not bad for a cheap vodka, but I don’t think you can even compare that with ones like Popov and other well vodkas. I’ve dont the blind taste taste before, and when straight up I’ve always been able to taste the difference between Ketel One, Grey Goose and the cheap stuff.

If you’re gonna pour it into citrus and sugar, cheap vodak is just as good as expensive vodak.
