Hoboken Weather Watch – 7/29/2009

7/29/2009 7:15pm Bump:

Hoboken will smell swell tomorrow!

Our crappy sewers lead to the development of one of many “Hoboken Lakes” each time it rains these days. Below is a photo gallery of several areas along Newark Street. Also, overheard on the Hoboken411 Live Police and Fire Action ChannelLegal Beans is flooded once again.

See original entry after the jump…

To answer the previous question I asked – NO.

7/29/2009 6:30am:

Will Hoboken dodge the storms today?

Just a daily FYI – it seems as if conditions are ripe for some locally heavy tropical thunderstorms today. We’ll have no way for knowing for sure where these storms will pop up – and exactly when – so please be aware of of your conditions and be prepared to seek shelter, especially if you’re planning any extended outdoor activities.

You can also subscribe to Hoboken411 Twitter updates (yes – I’m a weather dork). Note that I post the updates fairly reliably, but may not be able to broadcast each drop of water.

Hopefully Hoboken will avoid anything serious.

Sorry e. I just thought, you know, that’s what you meant because of all your comments about them here. I was supporting that view. That’s all..sorry. I just won’t write it in those words again. Know what I mean? I’m still on board with you though.

Unfortunately, only hte mayor has the power to dal with this issue. Not one prior mayor has made flooding a priority. I guess they don’t care abot those who get flooded.

Hopefully, we will get a mayor who cares about the constiuents concerns, not about lining their pockets.

I stopped in at that studio on the first floor of that new building on the corner of Newark and Willow several weeks ago. They had computers, power strips, speakers and all kind of stuff on the floor. I told them that it floods in there a couple times per year and they should move them to the desktops. Thought I was doing them a favor, the guy and this girl looked at me like I was bothering them and said “Uhh yeah, some people have told us that already”. Weeks went by, they didn’t move any of it, until the other morning when it flooded. I wonder if anyone told them that the water all over their floor has raw sewage in it?
