The Frayed Knot {leaving Hob}

The Frayed Knot leaving Hoboken

The eclectic furniture and accessory store The Frayed Knot (located at 601 Newark Street) is reaching it’s end-point here in Hoboken, after a little more than six years open to the community.

Owners Chris Morelli and Tad Eaton are in the process of packing up and relocating to a building they own in Los Angeles, CA.

They said that they still want to have an east-coast presence, but most likely in the Hudson Valley of New York (The Nyack area I presume – which is more friendly towards collectors like these guys).

You can swing by over the next six weeks – as they’re having a big “closing sale” going on until then. Get over there before the good stuff is gone!

The Frayed Knot – Hoboken, NJ

7/16/2009:

Finally got around to visiting The Frayed Knot (601 Newark St.) – which many Hoboken411 readers emailed in inquiring “what is that place?”

An interesting Hoboken addition for sure!

Swung by earlier in the week – and spent some time exploring the former Hoboken Police Horse Stable spot with owners Chris Morelli and Tad Eaton. They’ve been leasing the building since April, and have been open for business for about two months. Took a few pictures, and will let them tell you what the “Frayed Knot” is all about!

“The Frayed Knot at 601 Newark Street was once part of the old Windsor Wax Company and more recently stabled the Hoboken police horses. Our convenient location is just a stones throw from the train station and around the corner from the Holland Tunnel.

The Frayed Knot aspires to inspire. Its a laid back homey eclectic mix of the old and new. Our inventory is an adventure in very reasonably priced antique treasures, vintage and mid-century furnishings, local artists works, project pieces, and unique finds perfect for that spot you’ve been searching to fill in your home.

Plans are in the works for an in-store coffee shop that will also carry seasonal goodies like pumpkins in the fall, Christmas trees in the winter and seedlings in the spring.

We welcome unique consignments and encourage a little escape time at The Frayed Knot.”

You can reach them by calling 917-854-5945.

Forgot to note – that they used to sell their items primarily on Craigslist…

Lovely little place on the outskirts of town, surprise mom and dad with something special from this hot spot. Worth the walk or SHORT drive

I have stopped into the Frayed Knot a few times, since I’m looking for dining room chairs. They constantly get new merchandise in and the space is beautiful. Chris and Tad are very helpful and friendly. I live right acrross the street from their store and I look forward to checking in with them and putting some of my items on consigment with them. I think they will do very well.

There’s one on the sidewalk between 12th & 13th on Hudson. It looks alright if you like a glass top.
