Pupie Party at Sinatra Park!

7/8/2010:

Tonight is the annual Frank “Pupie” Raia birthday bash down at Sinatra Park!

Free for all!

Each year, Pupie throws a big party for himself – and all Hoboken residents are invited to join in!

Live music – including an Aerosmith cover band! (Frank always gets up and sings at some point!) – Free food (burgers, dogs, steak sandwiches), wine and beer too.

The party lasts till 10pm, so get down there on this beautiful night and wish Frank a Happy Birthday!

See previous parties from 2008 and 2007 to see what it’s like!

Happy Birthday Frank! (51)
(and to my brother Pete – who’s the same age!)

If you can say Whoopi Goldberg, then you can say Pupie.

They rhyme. Whoopi/Pupie

Seriously? I always thought it was pronounced like “puppy” not “poopy”!

Wow, haha.

btw, please! someone tell me if it’s pupie, as in “poo.” on the edge of my seat (not really) – dying to know.

Not /oo/ as in “moon” nor /u/ (short) as in “cup”. The vowel is most closely pronounced /u/ as in “pull” – a non-tense, unrounded vowel with a slight frontal variation unique to Hudson County. Just call him Frank.

eh, this is different than someone having a party at a bar with their friends. this is involving the whole city, and it’s probably a bit naive to think that it’s not simply a business decision. from what i understand, the guy is loaded and made his money from real estate. well, we all know how real estate works in this corrupt town. again, we can be politically correct, or we can be honest – in this town (at least to date – hopefully changing) the politicians get in bed with the developers by donating to their campaigns so that they can get the rights to deals. in this regard, can’t you see how this party – which generates all sorts of “good feelings” – would not influence the powers that be in town so that he can continue to make his millions? people might focus on the fact that he is paying for it all but what’s $15,000 (i’m making up a number) as a cost of landing deals worth millions. it’s just an expense on the way to the bottom line.
