I wonder if they are going to insult people in order to try and get them to sign up for their gym. Didn’t they recently send out a letter saying their name is NOT “sky club” anything?
I park in the sky club parking garage amd there was a sign at the entrance that the gym was closed again on Sunday. It seems that they are closed a lot. At least 3 or 4 days in the last 2 months. So much for new management.

This is from the New Management of Sky Club Fitness.
I decided to sign up today and respond to some of these postings.
With regards to the “closing of the gym” we have been open EVERY day for the last two months.
We found out yesterday that the signs have been posted by NON SKYCLUB EMPLOYEES.
As part of the new management team we know that we have many bridges to mend. All we are asking is that we be given a chance to prove that things are improving here at the club. Like all other healthclubs we have areas that need improvement and we are striving every day to address those issues. Please feel free to contact me at hoboken411@skyclubfitness.com

Nice to see the SkyClub is under new mgmt…again. I was there on Sunday and it was open, so not sure who posted that. One thing is for sure, I know a broken water fountain has made me buy drinks at the gym, that is one way of increasing beverage sales! I do miss laughing at the old membership guy who used to sit in the office with sunglasses on looking at ESPN.com, it was great and always made me smile.

If you are trying to mend fences (I am a past, unhappy member), why don’t you post your rates here, tell us what is/will be different, and provide a discount for 411 readers?

You are correct. The water fountain is broken and a replacement fountain has been ordered. We have been providing FREE water at the reception desk and in the cafe for our members.

Our policy is not to post our rates. However, as a previous member, if you contact one of our Sales Associates they will be more than happy to provide you not only with our current rates but our existing promotion for previous members.
Changes; First and foremost our existing members along with those previous members who have visited us to take a second look, are saying that the staff is a lot friendlier and that the atmostphere in the club is lighter. We have revamped our group fitness schedule, added yoga classes for children, eliminated guest fees for members children using the pool, added special events such as “Parties with a Purpose”; Pool/Patio parties every other Thursday night (proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation). Established new corporate/group discounts; family/roomate/partner discounts.
The biggest change is that as a TEAM we are more open to our members suggestions and comments and although all requests can not be granted they will be addressed.

I know the rates, the Gatorade cost me $1.75. Nice to know about the free water, I did not see that posted anywhere, but thanks for the heads up!

although you do not post your rates, could you address the rumors that were floating around that there was some sort of ridiculous membership fee of like $2 grand a year which was attempted to be justified under some notion of “wellness” or some other “exclusive/luxury” concept?? obviously there’s nothing on God’s green earth that can justify such a preposterous level for a gym membership (not to mention nobody wants to be insulted by comments that they don’t truly care about their wellness if they choose to be logical and walk away from such a sales pitch)

So non employees posted signs on all of the garage entrances and on the elevators saying the gym was closed and none of the employees saw them or noticed that no one was in the gym? Talk to the guys in the garage office, they have cameras on the gates and will let you find the people that did this and you can file charges if this is really the case.

I am also curious why you no longer have the disinfectant wipes in the gym. You have crappy paper towels with the spray bottle. The wipes were so much better. Cutting costs? Those were kind of nice…

OMG – someone from SkyClub management actually responded to member concerns? I am going to pass out from shock!
Hey gnoor, at least they are providing spray/paper towels (at least I hope they are) – it used to be that they just ran out and pretended like they didn’t notice. Baby steps . . .
Now, SC manager:
- how about turning the #^$%@! air conditioning back on. Did you think we didn’t notice when the temperature shot up?
- change the training session sign-up procedure. I want some training sessions, but I want a clear straight-forward answer about how much it will cost without getting the b.s. story about having to do an “assessment.”

First of all, let me start by saying that I am a member of The Sky Club and I love it! Over the past 2 years that I have been going, I have noticed a big difference. It is progressively getting better each and every day. It is always clean, the staff is friendly, and all the classes they offer are AWESOME! Yes, the water fountain is broken, some of the TV’s are not working, but all in all the Gym is great. And chances are no matter what gym you go to, there are going to be things wrong except the difference is you are just going to have to pay a lot more to go to those gyms. All the things that people are complaining about on here are minor. If you are looking into joining a gym, I would say Sky Club is the place to be!!!!

We know who it was, I chose not to name them in this forum. We have removed at least 5 such signs in the past two months, but only this weekend did we find out who it was.

The rumor regarding past management and the “wellness” concept at $2000 is true.
That membership option went out the window my first day on the job.

Thank you Gerzigurl. The TV’s have been an issue since the beginning and I am working to rectify that matter. The cable compny was in two weeks ago and replaced a few of the boxes. That has helped but we are not 100% yet.

We are still providing the dispensable wipes. We received a shipment over the weekend that was incorrect and a replacement order will be in tomorrow. The paper towels and the spray bottles are are temporary fix. Definitely not cutting costs when it comes to cleanliness.

Considering the fact that I am at the club for 8 – 10 hours a day, belive me I totally noticed the HVAC situation. The HVAC company was in yesterday and will be back next week to do some routine maintenance on the units. In the meantime, we are re-programming the thermostats in house.
Please contact me regarding the session sign-up procedure. Our rates are very straight forward and are available in print for you. The assessment is something we offer as a courtesy so that those members not fortunate enough to purchase additional sessions can be provided with a workout program they can follow on their own.

I have been a member of SkyClub for about a year now and have a couple of comments for the SkyClub GM.
1. Please turn on the AC or get it fixed because this problem has been a constant since I joined.
2. Spend the money to get the TV’s fixed on the treadmills. It is very annoying to have to wonder what treadmill is going to have a TV that works that day and if it will be showing a channel I want to watch. You never know what channels you are going to get that day either.
3. Please buy a couple more weightlifting bars, so each bench has it’s own bar. It is a pain to get to a bench and it’s bar is missing and you have to walk around the gym to take one from another bench.
4. I have witnessed a couple of times were the treadmills just abruptly stop while people are running on them for some reason. Has anyone else seen this?
5. Can you please plan ahead when you do your ordering for the disinfectant wipes because every month you run out and then tell us that you just placed an order for more. How about ordering more and then staying on top of your supplies so this problem doesn’t happen anymore?
6. On a positive note, I have to say that the gym has been much better since the last regime was removed. I still think there is a lot work to be done, but I am hopeful that things can be turned around. I have a few more months till my membership is up and hope that the new management will want to keep my business. I can’t wait to hear what the prices are now, we should get a discount for having to endure the Sky Luxury Wellness management team and all the problems they caused!

Thanks for your comments SkyClubGM. Is the guy with the camo pants no longer running the place or is that you? We are happy you are standing up and answering questions and trying to make this a better place.
