Inauguration Today

July
7/1/2009 Update 3:
Zimmer voted President; Cunningham VP
The City Council voted anonymously unanimously to appoint Dawn Zimmer as Council President – and Peter Cunningham as Council Vice-President.
7/1/2009 Update 2 (1:45pm):
The ceremony started late – and is getting close to finishing up now. Up next, is a “cocktail” reception over at the Babbio Center. Nice setup with a hazy NYC view today. Once guests arrive, and “mingle” for a while – they’ll head over to DeBaun Auditorium for today’s scheduled Council Meeting. That will likely start late as well. (Although – one volunteer indicated that the Council Meeting may start next – with the reception as the last event – but she wasn’t 100% sure…)
7/1/2009 Update:
Here’s a photostream of what has transpired in the past hour at Stevens Institute. Various dignitaries, including Governor Corzine (who’s aide told me that he *did* vote in this year’s Mayoral Election, FYI) – Cory Booker, Senator Menendez, and many other Hoboken VIP’s – including Former Mayor David Roberts.
7/1/2009:
Changing of the…
In a little over an hour, Hoboken will have a new Mayor: Peter Cammarano.

Taking place at Stevens Institute
Over at Stevens Institute (Noon) – the 37th Mayor of Hoboken will be sworn in, along with three new council members: Dave Mello, Ravi Bhalla and Carol Marsh.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker will kick things off, and NJ Governor Jon Corzine is “expected” to attend as well.
After all the pomp and circumstance, boilerplate news quotes, and future stock photo opportunities – the city is holding an early reorganization/council meeting at 2pm at the DeBaun Auditorium (where I think all future council meetings should be held – the council chambers at City Hall is more like a “torture chamber.”)
In addition to the inauguration – the council will also vote for a new president and vice-president.
Anyone use a valuable vacation or sick day from work to witness this historical Hoboken moment?

Oh lord Manolo. Is serotin what they put in the Zimmerist Kool-Aid?
Cammarano was sworn in a minute after midnight as per custom based in the law, which states that the last Mayor’s term is up when the clock strikes midnight. It ensures the position is filled in the event of an emergency. There is no conspiracy here and Genova had nothing to do with it.
By the way, one Donna is already one too many. She is a proven liar who does the cause of reform much more harm than good.
In response to manolo who said:
It’s going to take quite awhile to congratulate Cammerano as Mayor, why was he sworn in one mintute after midnight? Must have been some dicey issues had to get pushed thru asap for Genova and co. How many folks attended that one, I would like to see them leaving after the swearing in.
Here’s a heads up, we need 100 more like Donna Antonuuci as we need Dan Tumpson, Cheryl Falick and Mary Ondreykia. These folks speak to truth not BS.
So Whiskey or wiskey or whatever you’ve morphed into of late, relax sit back have your little confabs with hidden losers at Church Towers and say yea we are getting over like rover but you know Karma has a way of sudden reversal of fortunes. just saying.

Red..Your wasting your time..Just enjoy the pun,and satire at their expense..They can’t even sell their cardboard condos because of the drop in $$$$$..value..No one forced these newbees’s to purchase homes in Hoboken…It’s mainly for the accessability, and nothing else. These jar heads envisioned a mecca with fig trees and beaches.rightttttt..Theres a wee beach at the toll bros bldgs on 11th st. enjoy. We have our John Browns, and Carrie Nations to fight for truth justice and the American way..Not one of them served in the military:)Legends in their own minds..

My comment was based on converstations with Hal.
That’s interesting that you claim they had the last two or three in a building that was built in 2003.

411, the “cocktails” at the reception were iced tea, lemonade, water and coffee. The cake, however was superb! Nicely done, Buddy!

Wiskey, there you go again. In one post, you talk about all the taxes you pay, and in another post, you talk about all the money you saved due to “yuppie tax dollars.” If life is so wonderful for you, why do you sound so bitter?
