Saquan Williams awarded summer scholarship
At Hoboken Dance Academy
“Saquan Williams is a Hoboken High School student. He was brought to my attention after being seen at a Hoboken Board of Ed meeting where he spoke about his experience in the Theater Department. He has touched many people here in town after hearing him speak. The NY Times actually did an article about the High School’s theater department and he was featured.
The Broadway Intensive workshop is to aid students in the audition process and also provide vocal coaching, dance, and acting. He will also have the opportunity to speak freely with the instructors about breaking into the business, agents, and auditions etc. Our instructors for the summer that Mr. Williams will be working with are currently and/or formally in Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, Avenue Q and The Pirate Queen just to name a few.
Saquan is 16 years old and is a triple threat (sings, acts, and dances). I was impressed with him and I felt he deserves to be recognized for his work and dedication to the craft. He is the first student in the community that I have given a scholarship to due to merit. I am looking forward to keeping up with this and make a yearly tradition for Hoboken High School Student’s in the Theater Department.”
