6/25/2009:
Hoboken411 reader Biffy B for Mayor sent in this very cool tip this week: “Yo this is not Hoboken, but it is an enjoyable 10 min bike ride over and what I am sure would be an eventful bike ride back…”
Opens tomorrow! (Map)

About Zeppelin Hall
“It’s big, it’s German and it’s coming to Jersey City.
Welcome to Zeppelin Hall, an authentic European style Biergarten, which is a huge restaurant with both indoor and and outdoor spaces where hundreds of guests gather under the trees and stars to drink beer, eat and socialize. Biergartens have been an important part of the social lives of Europeans for hundreds of years. Now coming to Jersey City, USA.
As in Europe, there no reservations or seating assignments at Zeppelin Hall… come grab a seat at one of our thirty foot long community tables… A great place to connect with your group of friends. Shy? You won’t be after sampling some of our incredible draft beers beers and meeting other friendly guests. Jumping into conversations is mandatory. Eat and drink. Be merry, and stay as long as you like… Zeppelin Hall is a living room for the neighborhood serving you and other like minded people.
Convivial and light hearted! Conversation is king and we recommend sensible shoes as the outdoor garden is covered in gravel. wi-fi enabled… but we guarantee that you will be having too much fun to be typing.
Zeppelin Hall is dedicated to count Von Zeppelin, the visionary inventor of the rigid airship, an idea that came to him as a young lieutenant serving in the Union Army balloon corps during the American civil war. Like the airships he designed, we are big…German…and coming to New Jersey.”

I did not have it uploaded at the time I sent the info to H411, but I was actually at the sneak preview party last week and was able to get some video of some spontaneous fun…

This place is huge, with 3 rooms, including the outdoor space.
The laid back and well managed staff was still working out the kinks in the kitchen and the full menu is not yet available but the kitchen did have burgers, fries and sasuage in full effect. At this point go there expecting a snack and not a dinner. However – in a week or two the full kitchen and menu will be up and running.
The beer is good and cold and the pitchers which yeilded about 3 1/2 mugs of brew are only $15.
You may get lost as the beer hall is not located on Grand Street, like the directions say. It is in fact one block back, off of Grand (right along the Light Rail tracks).
It was a fun time, and I think once the trees in the “garden” have matured a little, this will be a pretty spot to relax and cheers. Bring cards, bring games and feel free to bring children as there were a few rent a cops as security.

Is it walking distance from a Light Rail stop? (I know as much about Jersey City as I do about downtown Mesopotamia.)

I went on Friday night with 3 co-workers. The general opinion is that this will be a great place once they work out the usual start up issues. Opening night is always a bit rough with the staff still finding their groove.
As a smoker, I like the fact that I can have a beer and smoke outside in the garden. There is a window to pick up food out there too, although I did not have anything to eat. A pitcher of Grolsch was $18.
Kudos to Biffy for the recommendation.

This place was great last weekend. They definitely need to increase the bar staff in side. There were only two women pouring the brew and well over 25 people waiting to get beers. Other than the wait, this place is solid and much needed in the JC / Hoboken area. I plan on visiting weekly

I’m calm now.
BTW how are the wings and the burgers here? I’m assuming the beer rocks. How’s the rate card.
