6/25/2009:
The annual Hoboken University Medical Center Foundation “Fight Night” is on July 9th (6:30pm) over at the W Hotel. Part of the reason I’m posting this so far in advance, is because there’s a good chance it’ll sell out.

A “fighting” fundraiser for HUMC
“Interested in witnessing a live amateur boxing match?
On Thursday, July 9, at 6:30pm, Hoboken University Medical Center Foundation will hold its annual “Fight Night.” This year the event is being held at the prestigious W Hotel at 225 River Street in Hoboken. Professional and Olympic fighters will be on hand to sign autographs and demonstrate sparing techniques.
Tickets for the event are $25 and limited seating is available, so it is recommended that you purchase your seats in advance. Tickets will be sold at the door that evening depending on availability. To purchase tickets, visit either Club H at 110 Sinatra Drive in Hoboken or Hoboken UMC Gift Shop at 308 Willow Avenue.
All proceeds from the event are going directly to benefit capital projects at the hospital.
For more information call 201-418-2124 or to see a list of fighters visit our web site at www.HobokenUMC.com under the foundation events tab.”

As did I.
That guy in the middle with the brown hat on looks like a Bayonne d-bag who hangs out at Lounge 11 on the weekends.

Awww come on man, why the hate? That’s Dan McDermott, one of the boxing trainers at LA Boxing. Actually, he’s a very cool guy, great fighter. He’s definitely not a d-bag.
Both the guys fighting for LA Boxing are pretty good fighters. Brian Moy has fought before, has good hands, and he’s a pretty heavy puncher. Vlad is just all around pretty bad ass, too bad this isn’t an MMA bout, he’s a tough kid. He has good jujistu, good standup martial arts skills, and as far as straight up boxing goes, he’s pretty damned good with that too.
I went to the fight night last year, just about all of the fights were good. Maybe one or 2 duds, but it was well worth the $25 for charity.

Is that the same Mark Settembre who owns the lone house being built at 1600 Park (see the Grass Maintenance thread)? Could the man be a developer/boxer? Could be my favorite dual career path since Sam Adams (brewer/patriot).
