Hobokenpix: Metal Structure at Maxwell

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 6/13/2009

I snapped this photo of this metal structure being built at the Maxwell Place pier a while ago.

Other than shade – is there a particular purpose for this? Perhaps a place for vendors to setup and sell their wares? (i.e., vegetables, so they don’t get spoiled by the sun, etc.)?

Just trying to figure out what the mentality was behind this design. Any ideas?

Oh joy, maybe this will be Mayor Cammarano’s first ribbon-cutting!

The structure for a building? Like the ticket building on the 14th St pier.

Looks similar the Solar setup at Stevens, and it is facing south.

Here is a pic.

Would be nice if vendors did set up there, though. Maybe 2 Farmers’ Market days per week, yes :)?

yeah! that would be great! so all their beat up panel vans can line up along the waterfront and they can haul out crates of store bought baked goods and produce! the shopping traffic along the private residential waterfront park is so strongand then all the garbage they dump on Washington st in front of CVS can be evenly distributed around the north side of town also. no doubt the rent/tax paying retailers in the north are jealous that so far only the downtown stores lose sales to these out-of-town gypsy vendors selling all those so hard to find items like tomatoes and corn!!
